Recent infrastructural developments include the opening of the fast tram route ( Poznański Szybki Tramwaj, popularly Pestka ) in 1997, and Poznań's first motorway connection ( part of the A2 autostrada ) in 2003.

It then continues along the rural North Downs, with a connection to the old A2 at Faversham.

Another very important connection is with the Dover Road ( the modern A2 ) which diverges in a south-east direction from Borough High Street at a busy junction of five roads adjacent to Borough tube station as Great Dover Street.

A1 corresponds to a parallel connection and A2 to a series connection, with the understanding that making a distinction corresponds to changing how two points in a circuit are connected, and not simply to adding wiring.

Poznań gained its first motorway connection in 2003 ( part of the A2 autostrada running south of the city in the directions of Warsaw and Berlin ).

In mid-2009 work commenced on dualling the A2 from Maydown to Eglinton and the airport, which now provides a high speed dual carriageway connection to the city.

The section between A2 / A9 and A1 / A6 was never built, although this would have formed a natural connection between A9 and A6.

Local autobahns are A 352 ( a short cut between A7 ( north ) and A2 ( west ), also known as the airport autobahn because it passes Hanover Airport ) and the A 37.
