The " building site " used for most of the filming was a set created on the backlot of the former ATV studios at Borehamwood ( then owned by Central ) and sometimes referred to as one of the Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire.

As the show was produced overseas at the ATV studios in Elstree, England, Jim Henson and his Muppet production team were able to bypass Douglass ’ easily recognizable laughs.

The former British National Studios off Clarendon Road referred to locally as " The Douglas Fairbanks studios " ( which were later owned by Lew Grade's ATV ) are now the BBC Elstree Studios.

ATV Midlands, now renamed Central Independent Television, needed an immediate start for separate East and West Midlands facilities.

This meant that Thames now acquired Rediffusion's London headquarters at Television House and their main studio complex at Wembley on top of ABC's headquarters and London base at Teddington, their Midlands base in Aston, co-owned with ATV, their northern base in Didsbury, Manchester and a sales office in central Manchester.

ABC's Aston studios were sold to ATV, who already owned half of the studio complex and who now took full control, and who sold the site a few years later to an independent local radio station.

In recent years, viewing figures for ATV Home have fallen sharply, as the TV station has begun to cater more to the interests of the mainland Chinese audience, who can now legally receive the channel.

The municipality used to host CBC ( CBIT ) and ATV ( CJCB-TV ) television studios, however these studios were closed in the 1980s and television news programming for Cape Breton Island is now broadcast from Halifax for these networks.

On June 8, 2011, the station announced that Ron Kronstein would become the senior anchor / producer for both the Nova Scotia and New Brunswick editions of the Evening News ; Kronstein was the former host of Live at 5 on ATV ( now CTV Atlantic ) until 2003.

The site of the tower that was not built is now proposed as the location for another, but taller building called V Building as part of the wider Arena Central development which will redevelop the now-closed studio facilities at ATV Centre.

He is now the host of several ATV programs and was recently on CATV as the host of Cable Scientific Investigator.
