Domed pottery kilns, with pottery still in situ, were identified on the site of the Anglo-Bavarian Brewery in the mid-19th century, suggesting military activity in the 1st and 2nd centuries.

The former Anglo-Bavarian Brewery

The Anglo-Bavarian Brewery was built in the 1860s and still dominates the western parts of Shepton Mallet ; fairly nearby is a former workhouse and then hospital, the Norah Fry Hospital, which was built in 1848 and has now been converted into housing.

The market cross, the prison and prison wall, The Merchants House ( 8 Market Place ), Anglo-Bavarian Brewery, Charlton Viaduct, the former St Michael's Roman Catholic Church at Townsend, and Bowlish House, Old Bowlish House and Park House in Bowlish are the town's nine grade II * listed buildings.

His early education from the age of seven was conducted by Freiherr Rolf Kreusser, an Anglo-Bavarian.

The Chapel of the Anglo-Bavarian Langue was formerly known as the Chapel of the Relic where the Knights used to keep relics that they have acquired through the centuries.

The foundation stone was laid by Clement Attlee, then Prime Minister, in 1949 on the site of the former Lion Brewery, built in 1837.

$ 1000 was raised by the settlers to extend the road from Walper corner to Huether corner, where the Huether Brewery was built and the Huether Hotel now stands ; a petition to the government for $ 100 to assist in completing the project was denied.

Many rich and famous people built summer homes here, among them: Herbert Lehman ( Governor of New York, 1932 ), the Leibman family ( owners of Leibman Brewery ), and Anton Seidl ( conductor of the Metropolitan opera ).

The oldest still remaining parts are the gate building with the gothic spired gate from the early seventeenth century, the Veehof ( Eng: ' Cattle courtyard ') from 1650, the lease courtyard, the Brewery from 1732, and the abbey castle which was built from 1779 until 1783.

The theatre was built on the location of the former Horse Shoe Brewery, which was the site of the 1814 London Beer Flood.

The brewery was owned by the Midland Brewery Company was built around 1877.

Yorkshire Brewery, built in 1880 to the design of James Wood, with its polychrome brick and mansard roof tower, was once Melbourne's tallest building.

Dating from 1785, it is one of only a handful remaining that was built by Boulton and Watt and was acquired from Whitbread's London Brewery in 1888.

Covering, this grand classical style ensemble built from Plymouth limestone and Dartmoor granite, consists of grand gateway surmounted by statue of King William IV, there is the Slaughterhouse, then around a central dock basin, to the south Melville Square, a warehouse with a central courtyard, it has a clock tower over the main entrance, to the west of the basin is the Bakery with its mill and to the east the Brewery, with its cooperage.

In 1875, John and his brother William built a new Carling Brewery, and an even larger one was built when this burned down in 1879.

Linde's first refrigeration system used Dimethyl ether as the refrigerant and was built by Maschinenfabrik Augsburg ( now MAN AG ) for the Spaten Brewery in 1873.

Although not the centre of the industry, Hawkhurst Brewery and Malthouse was built in 1850, on the edge of The Moor ( now a house ).

The New Brewery is abandoned, because it was built on an " unsacred site " which made the beer flat-a reference to the Old Swan Brewery of Perth, Western Australia

It was built by Henninger Brewery ( now part of the Binding Brewery / Radeberger Group ) and has a storage capacity of 16, 000 tons of barley.

The death of Henry senior at the age of 82 occurred in 1862 and although his own son was not a business man of the same determination, the firm ’ s expansion continued adequately with John Mares, who had come to the financial assistance of the Shepherd Brewery during the recession of the mid-1840s and continued as the impetus behind Shepherd and Mares until Percy Beale Neame joined the Brewery in 1864.

Mares ' unexpected death at the age of 45 in 1864 placed Percy Neame, at the age of 28, as the stronger partner with Henry Shepherd, and with the challenge left to him in Mares ' successful expansion programme he brought the Faversham Brewery well into the Neame family's dominion.

The former Weinhard Brewery, which operated continuously from 1864 to September 1999, was shut down by Stroh's upon the purchase of the Weinhard's brand by Miller Brewing and sold for redevelopment as the Brewery Blocks.

In 1864, he established the Louis Hoster & Sons Brewery, which became the Hoster Columbus Associated Breweries in 1904.

Carlton is home to some of Melbourne's most historically significant buildings such as Melbourne Trades Hall and the World Heritage Site of the Carlton Gardens, the Royal Exhibition Building and the ruins of the old Carlton Brewery, a collection of buildings constructed between 1864 and 1927, all listed on the Victorian Heritage Register.

Miller also introduced the Icehouse brand under the Plank Road Brewery brand name shortly thereafter, and it is still sold nationwide.

Shepherd expanded on his interest, through acquiring a number of public houses, but it was his son Julius Shepherd who extended this trend still further upon his inheritance of the Brewery in 1770, when the company held four such outlets.

At the lowest part of the town, by the river, Harvey & Son's Brewery, ' The Cathedral of Lewes ' is an unspoilt nineteenth century tower brewery and is the only one of the town's five original major breweries still in use.

The brewery building, the Anchor Brewery, was on the north side of Mile End Road, opposite Stepney Green ; and is now the site of the Anchor Retail Unit, owned by Henderson Global Investors, though the Brewery Offices still remain on the corner of Mile End Road and Cephas Avenue.

Although the company is no longer independent, the John Smith's Tadcaster Brewery site has been maintained, and it remains the location where the majority of John Smith's is still brewed, as well as brewing a range of Heineken UK products.

This new version, while still brewed in Thailand by Pathmthani Brewery Co., Ltd., proclaims on its labelling to have been brewed under the supervision of Singha Corporation Co., Ltd. instead of Boon Rawd Brewery Co. Ltd.

Marston & Son Ltd amalgamated with John Thompson & Son Ltd and moved to Albion Brewery, where the company still operates.

The station is on the northeasterly edge of the town next to Poulsom Park and playing fields, and was at one time used to transport beer from the Castletown Brewery as well as cattle and other livestock ; remnants of the cattle dock are still visible at the station which is open seasonally between March and November as well as weekends at Christmas ; there is a small volunteer group the Friends Of Castletown Station who tend to the area in association with the Isle of Man Steam Railway Supporters ' Association, a local charity.

Brewing still survives in the Wadworth Brewery, but the tobacco and snuff trades have now died out.

Today, the Brewery District, part of the greater German Village neighborhood, still partially resembles its notable past.

The Strakonice Burghers ’ Brewery is the last brewery in the Czech Republic to still be owned by a town.

There is still a street near Tower Bridge called Horselydown Lane, at one end of which stood Horseleydown Brewery ( now an apartment block called Anchor Brewhouse ).

The oldest brewery still in operation is the Cascade Brewery, established in Tasmania in 1824.

After Labatt bought the Columbia Brewery in 1974, they hired the advertising agency WestCan later to be known as Scali McCabe Sloves whose Vancouver office produced a number of humorous radio and then international award winning TV campaigns introducing " The Sasquatch ", including, for instance ,( and still under the name WestCan at the time ) 2 IBA's for TV.

All the breweries that Morlands closed still had their own name and trademark added to their own beer labels, even though all the beer was brewed in the Abingdon Brewery.

The stream that gave the area its name is largely hidden from view as it runs through Swaythling, although it can still be seen next to the Fleming Arms pub ( now owned by Gales Brewery, the Fleming Arms used to be a Beefeater restaurant until a fire led to the sale of the property ).

Note the branding still states ' Wards Sheaf Brewery Sheffield ' which could be construed as misleading.

The Dubuque Star Brewery still stands today in the same location.
