The Baldwinsville Varsity Winterguard won the 2002 and 2004 State Championships in the MYCGC's SA2 class, and the 2009 State Championship in the SRA class.

In 1907, the first formation on a football field was the " Block P " created by Paul Spotts Emrick, director of the Purdue All-American Marching Band.

These shows normally consists of three to five musical pieces accompanied by formations rooted in origin from " Patterns in Motion ", a book penned by one-time Michigan State University Spartan Marching Band assistant band director William C. " Bill " Moffit, who would later become bandmaster of Purdue University All-American Marching Band and University of Houston Spirit of Houston.

Examples of these types of college bands include Bethune-Cookman University " Marching Wildcats ", Grambling State University's " World-Famed Tiger Marching Band ", Jackson State University's " Sonic Boom of the South ", the " Ohio University Marching 110 ", Florida A & M University's " Marching 100 ", Tennessee State University's " Aristocrat of Bands ", and Southern University's " The Human Jukebox ".

The New Washington Middle / High School Band has not had a contest win since 1978, but on September 19, 2009 the New Washington Marching Band and Guard won the Paoli Invitational in Class A.

The Oliver Ames Marching Band won the 2008 Division 2 New England championships for USSBA, and placed 5th out of 29 bands competing.

The South Hadley High School Marching Band has won the state and-or New England USSBA Championship each year.

The Smithville High School Band has won two state Marching Championships.

* The Blacksburg High School Marching Band has won the Class A state championship four times: 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005.

The Golden Apple Band won sweepstakes at the Washington State Auburn Marching Band Championship in the 2010 marching season.

The Pride of Piedmont Marching Band has won Class Championships at the Oklahoma Bandmasters ' Association Championships in 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011.

The Coppell High School Marching Band won the Texas 4A UIL championship in 1999 and finished third in 5A in 2009.

Marching to Cairo, he won a great victory at the Battle of the Pyramids ; however, his fleet was destroyed by Nelson at the Battle of the Nile, stranding him in Egypt.

The school band is the RCC Marching Tigers, which includes the Fantasia Winter Guard, which has won several Winter Guard International awards, a Fall Marching Band, a Winter Drum Line, and a Spring Pep Band.

In 2011, the Lancaster High School Marching Redskins won the New York State Field Band Conference State Championship, Large School 2 division.

In 2011 the Farrell Marching Band won the USSBA National Championship also taking the caption awards for Best Music Best Overall Effect and Best Percussion.

The Colorguard and Marching Band also won First Place in Fall 2008.

* In 2008, the Marching Band performed " Earth, Wind, and Fire " as their field show which won them three stars at the MICCA Marching Band Competition.

The Marching Band and Color Guard at James Logan High School has won two WSMBC ( Westerns States Marching Band Conference ) championships ( 1997, 1999 ) and ten Western Band Association championships ( 2000 – 2002, 2004 – 2010 ).

Also in 2006, Northwood Marching Band has won 1st in 5A division at The Huntington Beach High School Surf City Open with their field show called " Fantasmic ".

In 2008, The Northwood Marching Band has won 1st in 5A division at the Newport Beach Open.

The Marching Band won state titles in 1993, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2003 as well as a USSBA National Championship in 2006.

The Hersey Marching Huskies won the University of Illinois ' field competition in 2006 and won the best overall award, the Governor's Trophy in 2009.
