Geographical features include Great Bear Lake, the largest lake entirely within Canada, and Great Slave Lake, the deepest body of water in Canada at, as well as the Mackenzie River and the canyons of the Nahanni National Park Reserve, a national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Fort Montgomery was located at the confluence of Popolopen Creek with the Hudson River near Bear Mountain in Orange County, New York.

Multiple ferries were established on the Missouri River, Kansas River, Little Blue River, Elkhorn River, Loup River, Platte River, South Platte River, North Platte River, Laramie River, Green River, Bear River, two crossings of the Snake River, John Day River, Deschutes River, Columbia River, as well as many other smaller streams.

From Fort Bridger, the main trail, comprising several variants, veered northwest over the Bear River Divide and descended to the Bear River Valley.

The trail turned north following the Bear River past the terminus of the Sublette-Greenwood Cutoff at Smiths Fork and on to the Thomas Fork Valley at the present Wyoming-Idaho border.

A majority of the surviving Nez Perce were finally forced to surrender on October 5, 1877 after the Battle of the Bear Paw Mountains in Montana only 40 miles from the Canadian border.

The main Oregon and California Trail went almost due north from Fort Bridger to the Little Muddy Creek where it passed over the Bear River Mountains to the Bear River valley, which it followed northwest into the Thomas Fork area, where the trail crossed over the present day Wyoming line into Idaho.

Their historical range roughly comprised a triangle between the Great Bear Lake in Canada's far northwest, south to the Mexican states of Durango and Nuevo León, and east along the western boundary of the Appalachian Mountains.

These trees provide preferred spring habitat for Black Bear in the San Bernardino Mountains.

On the western edge of the county lies the Wellsville Mountains and on the eastern edge lie the Bear River Mountains, both northern branches of the Wasatch Range.

Taking up the land between the Wellsville and Bear River Mountains is Cache Valley, a relatively flat valley traversed by the Bear River and dotted with small farm towns in the west and the larger, more urban, and faster-growing areas in the east, along the benches of the Bear River Mountains.

The county climbs to an elevation of 9, 980 ft ( 3, 042 m ) at Naomi Peak in the Bear River Mountains.

The Bear River Mountains lie along the western edge of the county, and Logan Canyon opens up to the west of Garden City, which is a quaint tourist town that lies on the western edge of Bear Lake.

U. S. Route 89 descends from the Bear River Mountains through Logan Canyon and turns north at Garden City along the Bear Lake shoreline.

The Bear Paw Mountains rise in the eastern section and the Little Rockies and the Highwood ranges are in the southern portion.

Bear Valley Springs is both a census-designated place ( CDP ) and Community Service District in the Tehachapi Mountains, in Kern County, California, United States.

They relied upon Frank E. Brown's Bear Valley Land and Water Company to provide them water, which was collected and pumped from Bear Valley in the San Bernardino Mountains to the north.

This city lies near the eastern edge of Cache Valley on the western slopes of the Bear River Mountains, the northernmost branch of the Wasatch Range.

From 1824 to 1825 Jedediah and his men explored the Rocky Mountains and trapped the Green, Bear, Snake, and Clark's Fork Rivers.

On September 10, 1868, the Lake Superior and Mississippi Railroad officially opened the extension to White Bear Lake.

The northern extension of the Wasatch Range, the Bear River Mountains, extends just into Idaho, constituting all of the Wasatch Range in that state.

This time it passed, giving the TSPC not only the $ 3. 6 million ($ in contemporary dollars ) to extend the parkway to Columbia County but putting the Westchester sections, including the entire Bronx River Parkway extension and the planned Bear Mountain Parkway, under the commission's jurisdiction.

Originally proposed by Robert Moses, the Bear Mountain State Parkway was built between 1929 and 1932 by the Westchester County Parks Commission as part of the Bronx River Parkway's extension into northern Westchester County.

The east – west section of the extension between the Taconic Parkway and Annsville was renamed the Bear Mountain State Parkway.

The highway ran east to west from East Service Rd to Bear River Dr, on Front St to Harrison Dr, to Wasatch Rd southwest to Echo Canyon in Utah.

Further north, the Heber Valley and Weber River Valley separate the Wasatch Range from the Uinta Mountains, while the Bear River Valley and Bear Lake Valley separate it from lower mountain ranges that mark the western edge of the Green River Basin.

At Soda Springs, near the north end of the Wasatch Range, the Bear River turns abruptly south, flowing past Preston in the broad Cache Valley that extends north from Logan, Utah.

Formed in a half graben valley straddling the Idaho-Utah border, the lake has an approximate area of 109 square miles ( 282 km² ) and sits at an elevation of along the northeast side of the Wasatch Range and the east side of the Bear River Mountains.

Logan Canyon is a canyon that cuts its way through the Bear River Mountains, a branch of the Wasatch Range, in northeastern Utah.

Wasatch is a part of the Western Slam ( Wasatch, the Leadville 100, the Western States Endurance Run, and the Angeles Crest 100 ), and an optional part of the Rocky Mountain Slam ( Hardrock 100, plus three of four of Wasatch, the Bighorn 100, the Bear 100 Mile Endurance Run, or Leadville ).

It then crosses over the Smith Fork of the Bear River before ascending and crossing another pass on the Salt River Range of mountains and then descending into Star Valley Wyoming.

The elevation of these valleys is close to, and the rest of the county is covered by mountains, including the Bear River Range.

The eastern slopes of the Bear River Range is an increasingly popular location for cabins.

Mount Logan and the Bear River Range rise sharply to the immediate east.

This area lies within the meeting place of the Himalayan Mountain Range and the Indian Peninsula and contains at least 139 other species of mammal, including Tiger, Clouded Leopard and the Himalayan Black Bear.

Later called the Applegate Trail, it passed through the Rogue and Bear Creek valleys and crossed the Cascade Range between Ashland and south of Upper Klamath Lake.

The Bear River Mountains, or Bear River Range, is located in northeastern Utah and southeastern Idaho.
