* 1970 – Paul McCartney announces that he is leaving The Beatles for personal and professional reasons.

The Beatles ' " For No One " ( 1966 ) features Paul McCartney playing the clavichord.

McCartney tried to remind Sullivan that he was one of The Beatles but Sullivan obviously could not remember and, nodding and smiling, simply shook McCartney's hand and left.

The event featured the only known public airing of an experimental sound collage created for the occasion by Paul McCartney of The Beatles – the legendary Carnival of Light recording.

Years after The Beatles had broken up, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, and Ringo Starr each worked with music producer Jeff Lynne on various solo projects, while Harrison and Lynne also worked together as members of the Traveling Wilburys.

The remainder of the album consisted of cover versions, several of which had been staples of The Beatles ' live shows years earlier, especially in Hamburg, Germany and at The Cavern in Liverpool, including Chuck Berry's " Rock and Roll Music ", Buddy Holly's " Words of Love ", and two by Carl Perkins, " Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby ", sung by Harrison and " Honey Don't ", sung by Ringo Starr.

Idle claims on the All You Need Is Cash DVD commentary track that Harrison and Starr at one point discussed starting a band with Innes and Idle, based on the Beatles ' and Rutles ' shared and imaginary histories.

For example, during The Beatles ' appearance he persistently addressed Ringo Starr as " Bongo ".

An autographed pair of Smith's drumsticks can be found in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, right next to a pair of sticks used by Beatles drummer Ringo Starr.

John Lennon sang lead on the song when the Beatles performed it before it was given to Ringo Starr to sing.

Terry Knight, a singer on Capitol Records, had witnessed the Beatles ' White Album session during which drummer Ringo Starr had walked out and, in May 1969, released a song called " Saint Paul " about the impending break-up of The Beatles.

The Beatles song " Norwegian Wood ", which first appeared on the band's 1965 album Rubber Soul, was the first western pop song to actually incorporate the sitar ( played by lead guitarist George Harrison ).

Beatles guitarist George Harrison bought a 425 during a brief visit to the USA in 1963.

On August 21, 1965, during a Beatles concert tour, Randy Resnick of B-Sharp, a Minnesota music store, presented Harrison with a second model 360 / 12 FG " New Style " 12-string electric guitar, distinguishable from Harrison's first 12-string by its rounded cutaways and edges.

Harrison used this guitar on the song " If I Needed Someone " and during The Beatles ' 1966 tours.

George Harrison experimented with slide guitar during the latter half of The Beatles ' career, first using the technique on an early outtake recording of " Strawberry Fields Forever " in 1966.

Lynne continued to work with Harrison occasionally, including acting as producer for the two " new " Beatles singles " Free as a Bird " ( 1995 ) and " Real Love " ( 1996 ) for The Beatles Anthology.

Spector's Wall of Sound production technique also persisted after that time with his select recordings of the Beatles, the Ramones, Leonard Cohen, George Harrison, Dion and Ike and Tina Turner.

At The Beatles ' 1988 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, George Harrison at one point stated that there were only two " fifth Beatles ": Derek Taylor and Neil Aspinall ( referring to the Beatles ' public relations manager and road manager-turned-business-executive, respectively ).

In 1961 The Beatles ( comprising Lennon, McCartney, Harrison, and Pete Best ), who had met Sheridan during their first visit to Hamburg in 1960, worked with him on their second.

Preston had been introduced to The Beatles during the early 1960s, but did not work with them until 1969, when Harrison invited him to join them for recording sessions in order to defuse tensions in the band.
