* On 4 April of the same year at 18: 07 local time, a Boeing 737-200 ( registered OO-SDH ) that had been on a crew training flight suffered a bird strike during landing practice at Charleroi Airport.

With a Song in My Heart is a 1952 biographical film which tells the story of actress and singer Jane Froman, who was crippled by an airplane crash on February 22, 1943, when the Boeing 314 Pan American Clipper flying boat she was on suffered a crash landing in the Tagus River near Lisbon, Portugal.

While the airport served the domestic market well, the airport suffered from low international passenger numbers and a runway that was too short for a fully laden Boeing 747 to take off.

On 22 Mar 1984, Boeing 737-275 of Pacific Western Airlines with 119 people on board ; suffered an uncontained engine failure on the # 1 engine during takeoff.

This eruption also brought the dangers of volcanic ash to aviation to worldwide attention, after two Boeing 747 passenger jets flying downwind of the eruption suffered temporary engine failures and damage to exterior surfaces, both planes being forced to make emergency landings at Jakarta airport.

* On July 24, 2007 a Boeing 737-700, Continental flight 876, with 120 passengers and a crew of 6 flying from Panama City to Houston had to land in the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport because one of the internal security windows suffered a rupture.

South African Airways Flight 295 ( flown by a Boeing 747 named Helderberg ) was a commercial flight that suffered a catastrophic in-flight fire in the cargo area and crashed into the Indian Ocean east of Mauritius on 28 November 1987, killing everyone on board.

The Boeing 747-200B suffered engine surges in all four engines until they all failed.

* On October 13, 2007, a Boeing 727 making a trip from Kaduna to Abuja en route to Lagos suffered a cockpit fire.

The Boeing 737-300 series aircraft made an emergency landing at the airport ( one flight attendant suffered minor injuries during the rapid descent ), and a replacement aircraft was sent to the airport to board the passengers and complete the flight to Sacramento.
