On August 18, 1904, London went with his close friend, the poet George Sterling, to " Summer High Jinks " at the Bohemian Grove.

Bohemian Grove, a private club, has extensive land holdings in the area, which are used for summer retreats involving many high-ranking members of the business and government communities.

Cronkite has also for many years been the recorded voice of the owl at the " Cremation of Care " ritual at Bohemian Grove.

One summer day in 1908, Fisher, a member of San Francisco's Bohemian Club, was riding the North Pacific Coast narrow-gauge railway passenger train northbound to the Bohemian Grove, the club's summer campsite.

The Bohemian Grove Action Network of Occidental, California organizes protests and has aided journalists who wish to penetrate the secrecy surrounding the encampment.

Over the years, individuals have infiltrated the Grove then later published video and claimed accounts of the activities at Bohemian Grove.

In the summer of 1989, Spy magazine writer Philip Weiss spent some seven days in the camp posing as a guest, which led to his November 1989 article " Inside Bohemian Grove ".

Also filmed for The Order of Death was Jones ' return to the entrance of the Bohemian Grove in 2005 where he filmed a protest organized by the Bohemian Grove Action Network that took place at the Grove's entrance on Bohemian Highway, only to discover a majority of the protesters engaging in an " occult counter-ritual " known as the Resurrection of Care, supposedly a counter-ritual against the Cremation of Care.

Other nearby buildings are designed by well known architects including: Charles Moore ( Preview Center ), Graham Gund ( Bohemian Hotel ), Cesar Pelli ( movie theatre ), Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown ( SunTrust Bank ).

Other noted members of the Bohemian Club during this time included Ambrose Bierce, Allan Dunn, John Muir, Gelett Burgess, and Frank Norris.

Other possible allies – the Dutch Republic, Charles Emmanuel I, Duke of Savoy, and the Republic of Venice – sent letters saying they would not be able to offer Frederick assistance if he accepted the Bohemian offer ; only Gabriel Bethlen offered words of encouragement.
