As 1990s came to a close, the Brewers were on their way to becoming a perennial doormat.

The Brewers came into 2008 with hopes of ending the team's 26 year playoff drought, adding several veterans to the team in outfielder Mike Cameron and catcher Jason Kendall, as well as relief pitchers Eric Gagne and Salomon Torres.

As June came to a close, the Brewers made their biggest move for playoff contention as they traded 4 prospects, most notably Matt LaPorta, to the Cleveland Indians for CC Sabathia.

" The Brewers came into the All-Star break with a 52 – 43 record, still third behind the Cubs and Cardinals.

The Brewers came into the end of July still in the hunt for the division, but the front running Cubs swept the Brewers in a four-game set at Miller Park.

The Brewers came off the sweep from the Cubs with an amazing August, winning 20 of 28 games in the month.

Relief pitcher Eduardo Rodríguez accordingly came to bat in the ninth — and hit an RBI triple, sealing the Brewers ' 13-5 win over Cleveland.

Jeffcoat hit an RBI double, and later came around to score the Rangers 15th and final run in a 15-1 pasting of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Another noted Major Leaguer, Jim Morris of The Rookie fame played for the Beloit Brewers when he came out of college in the 1980s.

Career highlights include a game-tying, 2-run pinch hit double in the top of the ninth inning against the New York Yankees, then scored to put the Pilots ahead to stay, winning 5 – 4 ( June 14, 1969 ), a walk-off, 2-run double with two outs in the bottom of the ninth for the Brewers as they came from behind and defeated the Minnesota Twins, 4 – 3 ( June 23, 1970 ), drove in both Milwaukee runs with a pair of sacrifice flies in a 2 – 1 win over the Kansas City Royals ( July 5, 1970 ), hit the only home run of his major league career, a solo shot against Chicago White Sox left-hander Jim Magnuson ( August 5, 1970 ).

Perhaps his most indelible moment of his season in Detroit came on June 24, when he cleared the right field roof of Tiger Stadium with a shot off Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Tom Tellmann.

Following the 1998 season, the Stars and A's parted ways and the Milwaukee Brewers came to town as the new Stars affiliate.

However, on May 11 against the Milwaukee Brewers, Brazelton came in relief of Jake Peavy in the 8th inning with an 8 – 0 lead and gave up 4 runs on 3 hits and a walk without recording an out.

The highlight of his time with the Royals came in 1973 and 1974, when Healy caught Steve Busby's two career no-hitters, against the Detroit Tigers and Milwaukee Brewers respectively.

ESPN's Peter Gammons and Dan Patrick both picked The Brewers to beat out the defending champion Cardinals and re-vamped Chicago Cubs to win the NL Central.

The team's playoff drive took a hit late in the year, however, losing three of four games in a crucial series in Atlanta, dropping the Brewers to a season-high 3. 5 games out of first.

Hamels allowed only two hits and struck out nine Brewers batters in eight shutout innings.

However, Brewers right fielder Corey Hart struck out with runners on second and third to end the game.

The Brewers did suffer some early losses in spring training, as Zack Greinke was lost to a rib injury that would keep him out for a month, and Corey Hart was out for the first half of April with a hamstring injury, which caused the Brewers to make a last-minute trade at the end of spring training for Washington Nationals outfielder Nyjer Morgan.

The Brewers also used fewer starting pitchers than any team in baseball, using only six starting pitchers, with Marco Estrada filling in for 7 games when Greinke and later Narveson were out with injuries.

Poor bullpen play put the team even further out of contention by the end of July, which caused the Brewers to trade ace pitcher Zack Greinke to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in exchange for top minor league shortstop Jean Segura and two minor league relief pitchers.

Combined with stellar hitting of Ryan Braun, Aramis Ramirez, Corey Hart, and Jonathan Lucroy, the Brewers, from August 16 to September 23, won 26 of 35 games, and as of September 24, only 2 1 / 2 games out of the second Wild Card spot, with a 79-73 record.

He recorded his first at-bat on September 11 against the Milwaukee Brewers, popping out to third base in the seventh inning.

Fosse finished out the year with the expansion Mariners and then signed a contract to play for the Milwaukee Brewers.

Yount also threw out the first ball for Game 2 of the 2011 NLDS, with the throw being caught by Sveum, who was at the time the Brewers hitting coach.

On June 3, 2008, Johnson struck out Mike Cameron of the Milwaukee Brewers for career strikeout number 4, 673.

By the All-Star Break, the Brewers were in 2nd place in the division, behind Pittsburgh and St. Louis.

To address some needed bullpen depth, the Brewers made a shocking trade just hours after the All-Star Game, trading two Class-A prospects to the New York Mets for ace reliever Francisco Rodriguez, who immediately became the Brewers set-up reliever for closer John Axford.

However, the Brewers started the season poorly, with a 40-45 record by the All-Star break.

In 2002, Sexson represented the Milwaukee Brewers in the MLB All-Star Game which was played in Milwaukee.

In 2003, he played in all 162 games and again tied the Brewers record of 45 home runs while hitting. 272 and earning a selection to the 2003 MLB All-Star Game.

He homered in the 6th inning of the All-Star Game, on a 3 – 2 pitch from Francisco Cordero of the Milwaukee Brewers.

On July 12, 2011, immediately following the All-Star Game, Rodríguez was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers along with cash, and Adrian Rosario and Danny Herrera.

Just prior to the 2006 All-Star break, Moeller was designated for assignment by the Brewers, primarily due to his low batting average (. 184 ).

Jackson had previously broadcast ABC's coverage of the 1977, 1979 and 1981 World Series ( Jackson split play-by-play duties with Al Michaels for the latter two with Jackson calling the games at the American League site ), the 1978, 1980 and 1982 All-Star Game ( again, sharing play-by-play duties with Al Michaels for the latter two ), the 1980 National League Championship Series, the 1976, 1978 and 1982 American League Championship Series, the 1981 American League Division Series between the New York Yankees and Milwaukee Brewers, and the 1978 American League East tie-breaker game between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox alongside Don Drysdale.

The All-Star break followed, and Greinke was the Brewers ' starter on July 13, the team's next game.

Belliard played in the Brewers farm system from 1994 – 1999, winning Texas League All-Star honors in 1996 and in 1998 he was honored as a Triple-A All-Star, International League All-Star, Baseball America 1st Team Minor League All-Star and Brewers Minor League Player of the Year.

Wickman made his first All-Star Game appearance in 2000 as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Graffanino was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers at the All-Star Break for left-handed pitcher, Jorge De La Rosa.

He got out to a promising start in his career, even representing the Brewers at the 2006 MLB All-Star Game.
