The Ontario Liberal Party, led by Walter Thomson, lost six seats, but regained the role of official opposition because of the collapse of the CCF vote.

Another option circulated within the party saw the balance of power to be held by either the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation ( CCF ) and their 25 seats or Social Credit Party of Canada with their 15.

In order to prevent the CCF from winning in a three party competition, the government introduced instant-runoff voting, with the expectation that Conservative voters would list the Liberals as their second choice and vice versa.

The Army Cadet Force, Combined Cadet Force, Air Training Corps, Royal Marines sections of the Sea Cadet Corps and the Combined Cadet Force all have the rank of corporal, reflecting the structure of their parent service ; therefore it is the second NCO rank of the ACF, CCF and Marine Cadets, and the first NCO rank in the ATC.

Four years later they lost that position and their rural supporters began to move to the Liberal Party and CCF.

Eventually the Progressive Party of Canada and the United Farmers movement faded into obscurity with most of their members joining the Liberal Party of Canada and the democratic socialist, Co-operative Commonwealth Federation ( CCF, or present day New Democratic Party ).

As " nominal " members of the RNR, officers of the Sea Cadet Corps and the RN CCF Combined Cadet Force retain the use of the former RNVR ' wavy navy ' lace, and are ' appointed ' within their respective Corps, rather than commissioned ( unless they also hold a commission as officers within the ' mainstream ' RNR ).

The Bennett years left the Conservatives in the worst shape they had ever been-not only did enmity towards the Tories continue in Quebec as a legacy of the Conscription Crisis of 1917, but they were now reviled in the West for their perceived insensitivity to the needs of farmers in the Dust Bowl and Westerners turned to Social Credit or the CCF making the Tories their fourth choice.

The Liberals increased their level of public support but were unable to defeat the Saskatchewan CCF which had held power since the 1944 election.

Party leader M. J. Coldwell lost his seat, and the CCF parliamentary caucus elected Argue as their House Leader.

The coalition government, whose raison d ' être had been to keep the CCF out of power, had introduced an instant-runoff voting system for the 1952 election in the hope that Conservatives and Liberal supporters would list the other party as their second choice and keep the CCF out of power.

The previous two-years of anti-socialist attacks by the Conservatives and their supporters, like Gladstone Murray and Montague A. Sanderson, were devastatingly effective against the previously popular CCF.

The NDP have retained many of the socialist tendencies of the former CCF and remain to the left of some other social democratic parties in the Western world, such as Britain ’ s Labour Party.

Argue is the only former leader of the CCF or NDP whose portrait is not on the walls of NDP headquarters.

Many of the left-wing members of the UFA organization joined the CCF, though that party would not win the support of most former UFA voters.

Members of the former RWP ( whose National Committee did not dissolve and whose branches continued to hold meetings ) had difficulty working within the CCF.

In 1966 former CCF Member of Provincial Parliament William Dennison was elected mayor.

He was first elected, to the House of Commons, in a 1942 by-election in Winnipeg North Centre that was held on the death of former CCF leader J. S.

The ILP and CCF were brought into a formal alliance in 1933, despite misgivings from some in the former party.

Other prominent members were Elmore Philpott, a former Liberal Philpott joined the CCF in 1933 and became president of the Ontario Association of CCF Clubs before resigning from the party and rejoining the Liberals in 1935 over the A. E. Smith affair, that caused the UFO to leave as well.

Two candidates came forward: Toronto lawyer, and Ontario CCF vice-president Ted Jolliffe, and union activist and former Ontario CCF Youth Movement organizer Murray Cotterill.

The infighting ousted former CCF MPP, Bob Carlin because the party feared the Sudbury riding association was controlled by communists in the Mine, Mill union.

He stood again for the CCF when a by-election was called after the sitting Conservative Member of Parliament ( MP ) resigned in order to allow the new Conservative leader, former Prime Minister Arthur Meighen, to win a seat in the Canadian House of Commons.

She is the sister of Shelley Peterson, wife of former Ontario Premier David Peterson, and the granddaughter of John Henry ( Jack ) Matthews, who was the former Mayor of Brampton, Ontario and who previously ran as a CCF candidate.

Thatcher, who was a former member of the CCF, was concerned about the economic problems in the province.

These reports were lent credence by a statement made by a former CIA covert operations director admitting to CIA financing and operation of the CCF.

The King's School's Combined Cadet Force ( CCF ) is a voluntary contingent within the CCF of the Ministry of Defense, originally formed during the First World War.

The CCF serves in teaching cadets the art of leadership, as well as an extensive variety of other skills and qualifications in first aid and radio using, of which the contingent has a signals arm.

The Royal Russell CCF contingent is also in partnership with a local school allowing their students to join the contingent.

The schools CCF contingent parades once a week on Monday evenings.

With both RAF and Army sections, the Inst CCF contingent is regarded by many as one of the strongest in the UK.
