Dartmoor Prison was reopened in 1851 as a civilian prison, but was closed again in 1917 to be converted into a Home Office Work Centre for certain conscientious objectors granted release from prison ; cells were unlocked, inmates wore their own clothes, and could visit the village in their off-duty time.

The ABC Couplers were also converted to Centre Buffer Coupler ( AAR )

The refectory of the Dominican friary was eventually converted into a theatre in 1965, and now houses the Blackfriars Arts Centre.

Another tourist attraction is the Centre for Art and Media ( Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie, or ZKM ), which is located in a converted ammunition factory.

* At Belper, while much of the site has been converted to other business uses, the Belper North Mill building houses the Derwent Valley Visitor Centre.

The shore station was purchased by the Shetland Amenity Trust in 1995 and has been converted into a Marine Heritage Centre.

The Washington Arts Centre is a converted farm building.

The Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art has been established in a converted flour mill.

In Southend the £ 26m Gateway Building opened in 2007, a former church been converted to the Clifftown Town Centre providing East 15 students with studios and workshop spaces.

The portion of Highway 7 / 8 ( from Trussler Road to Wilmot Centre Road / Foundry Street ) converted into a freeway in the 1990s does not have this deficiency, nor do the portions of the Parkway signed as Highways 7 and 85.

* Mississauga, Roseborough Centre -> converted to Metro, closed in June 2012.

* Cobourg, County Fair Shopping Centre -> Converted to a Sav-A-Centre and re-located when development converted into Northumberland Mall in late 1980s.

* Ottawa, St. Laurent Shopping Centre -> Also converted to Dominion's Warehouse Plus format in the early 1980s

* Sarnia, Northgate Shopping Centre -> converted to A & P, now Metro

Of the town's two Church of England parish churches, St Peter's has been made redundant and converted into an Arts Centre.

Newport Quay has also been re-developed, with art galleries such as the Quay Arts Centre, and new flats converted from old warehouses.

It converted the remaining stores to Sears, including the flagship Eaton Centre store located at the Toronto Eaton Centre in downtown Toronto.

The Lewes Film Club, which also produces short movies ( including the recent adaptation of George Orwell's Animal Farm ), and Film at All Saints ( the Film Club in collaboration with Lewes Town Council ), show films based in the All Saints Centre, a former church.

The church hall of St Barnabas Church, Eltham is called the Frankie Howerd Centre.

The St Lawrence Centre for Training and the Arts is a restored church which hosts various music concerts, art exhibitions, craft fairs and charity events.

UNESCO's World Heritage Centre notes the Old Bridge ( Pont-Vieux ), the Saint-Salvi quarter, the quarter's church, the fortified cathedral ( late 13th century ) in unique southern French Gothic style from local brick, the bishop ’ s Palais de la Berbie, and residential quarters, which help the Episcopal City of Albi form a " coherent and homogeneous ensemble of monuments and quarters that has remained largely unchanged over the centuries ... a complete built ensemble representative of a type of urban development in Europe from the Middle Ages to the present day.

New Lisbon Centre listed as only having a church.

There are ten places of worship, including a mosque and an Islamic Community Centre, a Roman Catholic church and the Church of England All Saints church.

If there is no parish church, the bishop licenses another building for worship, and may designate it as a Parish Centre of Worship, a building which is not consecrated, but dedicated, and for most legal purposes it is deemed to be a parish church.

From 1845, when the first Anglican church was built on the site of the present Community Centre on Stephen Street, by Edmund Blacket, a number of churches were established, including St Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in the 1850s, the Methodist Church on King Street, now Newtown Mission, and the Baptist Church in Church Street.

Excavations to the west of the church, on what is now the Community Centre site, revealed a 14th century cemetery, which may have been used for victims of the plague, as well as indicting that the area was redeveloped in the late Middle Ages.

The stone Romanesque church building is located in the heart of downtown Ottawa ( Sandy Hill ) on the corners of Daly and Cumberland Streets, near the University of Ottawa and two blocks east of the Rideau Centre.

Next door is Colchester Arts Centre, a multi-function arts venue located in the former St Mary-at-the-Walls church, and home of the Colchester Beer Festival.

Currently, the Assyrian Church in Australia is working on building an Assyrian Medical Centre, a retirement village, Mar Narsai Assyrian College, and a church building for the rapidly growing Ss.

The congregation continues to exist, however, meeting in the adjacent church hall, known as Prescot Methodist Centre.

Loyal to the Pope in church matters, the Centre party steered a course independent of the Holy See on secular matters.

The town is also home to a Baptist, a spiritualist, a Roman Catholic and a further Methodist church at Openwoodgate, as well as Belper Community Church which meets at the Strutt Centre three times a month.

Eventually, the Eaton Centre plans were revised to save both Old City Hall and the church, and then revised further when Holy Trinity's parishioners successfully fought to ensure that the new complex would not block all sunlight to the church.
