Merrivale Quarry continued excavating and working its own granite until the 1970s, producing gravestones and agricultural rollers.

In a cavern just before the exit stairway leading to a building on the rue Dareau ( former ' rue des Catacombes ') above, one could see an example of the Quarry Inspection's work in the rest of Paris's underground caverns: its roof is two 11-metre high domes of naturally degraded, but reinforced, rock ; the dates painted into the highest point of each bear witness to what year the work to the collapsing cavern ceiling was done, and whether it has degraded since.

South-west of the town is the Friar's Oven SSSI which is the site of herb-rich calcareous grassland classified as the Upright Brome ( Bromus erectus ) type, and north-east is the Windsor Hill Quarry geological SSSI, and also the Windsor Hill Marsh biological SSSI, a marshy silted pond with adjacent damp, slightly acidic grassland which is of interest for its diverse flora, in large part down to the varied habitats present within the small area.

By 1906 New York interests had bought Gantt ’ s Quarry from its Ocala investors, and this site emerged as the center of marble-working activity.

In 1889, Batesville finally paved its roads with stone that came from the Hillenbrand and Oberting Stone Quarry.

It took its name from the Marble Cliff Quarry Co. ( still in use today ), and at this time stretched all the way from the Scioto River to the Olentangy River.

Quarry had wobbled Ellis with a heavy left hook in the 11th, but that was its most exciting short point.

At its west end, a cast-iron arch carries it over Quarry Lane.

The community is bordered by Highway 405 and the Niagara River ; its location on the Niagara Escarpment led to the establishment of the now-defunct Queenston Quarry in the area.

Quarry Bank Mill is notable for its use of unpaid child apprentices, a system that continued until 1847, with the last child to be indentured starting work in 1841.

The southern, Norton Quarry extracts its stone from some 20 – 30 metres below the surface and is quarried by Harvey Stone.

The Park Service successfully rebuilt the Quarry Exhibit Hall, supporting its weight on 70-foot steel micropile columns that extent to the bedrock below the unstable clay.

The Lengenbach Quarry ( LGB ) is noted among the mineralogical community for its unusual sulfosalt specimens.

Between 1972 and 1997 the line was used for railway ballast traffic from Meldon Quarry and occasional freight traffic to the remaining goods yard at Okehampton before its closure.

Calderstones School ( which Lennon attended in its previous incarnation, Quarry Bank ) is located on nearby Harthill Road.

One other park in Tampines is Tampines Quarry Park, which originally was a sand quarry and as time pass, rain water filled the quarry and thus giving its name.

When the mines closed the line lost much of its traffic but was rescued by a new traffic flow of stone from Callow Hill Quarry.

It was originally formed at the turn of the 20th century by Italian immigrants who came to work at the nearby Marble Cliff Quarry Co.

In 1999 Chris Packham launched an event on Cleeve Common hosted by the Trust, which involved geological work at Rolling Bank Quarry SSSI.

Amongst the staff who work there are noted archaeologists such as Mark Roberts, who directed the Boxgrove Quarry project, Late Prehistory specialist Sue Hamilton, Mediaeval specialist Andrew Reynolds, Public Archaeology specialist Tim Schadla-Hall and Caribbean archaeologist José Oliver.

Historic buildings include the Clock Tower near Tank Quarry, with its modern work of art the Cascade Gates ( 2007 ) in welded steel, by artist and sculptor Rose Garrard, the 18th century North Malvern House ( formerly a public house now flats ) and the Victorian building of the former North Malvern school.

The work on making it was started in the Yangshan Quarry ( some 10 km east of the mausoleum ) in 1405, but the unfinished stele was abandoned in the quarry, as it was realized that it would not be possible to move it.

Greenmount was a railway stopping place until 1954 when the Mundaring Loop was closed for passenger traffic, however trains continued to work on the line to the Mountain Quarry in Boya until 1962.

He is best known for his work on vertebrates recovered in the 1980s from the Post Quarry in the Late Triassic Cooper Canyon Formation ( Dockum Group ) of West Texas.

The area is rich in limestone deposits, and neighbors Thornton Quarry.

To the west of the town, on the edge of the Mendip Hills, there are large active limestone quarries, such as Whatley Quarry and Merehead Quarry, along with disused quarries.

Spherules are found lying unconformably over Carboniferous limestone in Wickwar Quarry.

The limestone is abundant in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia yet The Frazier Quarry is the only remaining quarry that cuts dimension stone from it.

This is today unused by passenger trains, but limestone trains to Whatley Quarry use the line.

Nature Reserves managed by the Trust include Bishop Middleham Quarry, Hawthorn Dene and Low Barns, and include a range of important habitats, such as magnesian limestone grasslands, upland hay meadows and coastal denes.

Dundry is notable for its stone: the yellow oolitic limestone from local quarries such as Dundry Main Road South Quarry and the Dundry Downs ( to the west of the village ) is found even at Cardiff Castle, a fort originally built by the Romans to defend against Anglo-Saxon invasions.

Cliff Quarry closed in 1957, although a small amount of limestone extraction still occurs at the western end ; it was bought by the Tramway Museum in 1959.

Also, a very large limestone quarry ( Thornton Quarry ) exists just south of the city of Chicago in the suburb of Thornton.

The disused limestone quarry called Quarry Hole, where Newton Lane meets Walworth Road, is post-medieval also, and it once had an associated lime kiln.

Ipan is also the site of the Pangelinan Quarry which provides high quality limestone aggregate used in the concrete of many of Guam's utility poles.
