For example, some districts may opt to split the qualifying competition for Student Congress from the remaining events, or hold separate tournaments for Individual Events and Debate.

They include Arundhati Roy who says " Each of us needs a little RAWA "; Eve Ensler, author of The Vagina Monologues, who suggests that RAWA must stand as a model for every group working to end violence ; Katha Pollitt, author of Subject to Debate: Sense and Dissents on Women, Politics, and Culture ; Ahmed Rashid, author of Taliban and Jihad ; and Asma Jahangir, Special Rapporteur of the UN and prominent women's rights activist of Pakistan are two Pakistanis who write about RAWA and express their support.

They include The Bell Curve Debate ( 1995 ), Inequality by Design: Cracking the Bell Curve Myth ( 1996 ) and a second edition of The Mismeasure of Man ( 1996 ) by Steven J. Gould.

Annually-held debates and oratory contests include the Lynde Prize Debate, the Class of 1876 Memorial Prize for Debate in Politics, the Maclean Prize and Junior Orator Awards, the Walter E. Hope Prizes in Speaking and Debating, the Spencer Trask Medals for Debating, and the William Rusher ’ 44 Prize in Debating.
