Returned to Portugal in January 1918 and was put under house arrest during the dictatorship of Sidónio Pais ; returned to diplomacy after the fall of Sidonist regime ; became minister to Spain ( 1919 ) and then again to the United Kingdom ( 1919 – 1923 ); a member of the Portuguese Delegation at the Paris Peace Conference ( 1919 – 1920 ); unsuccessful candidate of the Democratic Party ( Partido Democrático ) at the presidential elections of 6 Aug 1919 won by António José de Almeida ; delegate to the League of Nations, serving as Vice-President of the General Assembly ( 6 Sep 1922-30 Sep 1922 ); was elected in-absentia President of the Republic ( 6 Aug 1923 ), arriving at the port of Lisbon on 3 Oct 1923.

Since then he has served in Saigon ( 1974 – 1975, as 2nd Secretary ), Vientiane ( 1975 on temporary duty ), Hanoi ( 1979 as Chargé d ' Affaires ), Brussels ( 1979 – 1983, as a 1st Secretary with United Kingdom Delegation to NATO ), Kuala Lumpur ( 1983-1986 as Head of Chancery ), and Ottawa 1989-1993 as Counsellor, Economic / Commercial.

At the war's end he worked in the British Zone of Austria ( then under four power military occupation ) in the British Delegation of the Allied Commission for Austria, in Vienna, based at Schönbrunn Palace.

He was then President of the Industrial Court between 1919 and 1926 and Chairman of the National Wages Board for Railways between 1920 and 1926, of the Industrial Delegation to Canada and the USA between 1926 and 1927 and of the Departmental Committee on the Shop Hours Act 1927.

Dhar was a member of the Indian delegation to the United Nations security council meeting in 1949 and the Indian Delegation to United Nations General Assembly in the Paris Session of 1952. Dhar was the Ambassador of India to the Soviet Union between 1969-1971 and then again from 1975 till his death.

He then worked as an attorney in the Office of the Legal Adviser to the Department of State and Adviser to the United States Delegation to the United Nations General Assembly ( 1951 – 53 ).

In March 1994 Imam Warith Deen Mohammed toured Sudan with the African American Friendship Delegation, while in Sudan he met with Dr. Hassan ' Abd Allah al-Turabi also known as Hassan al-Turabi, Secretary General of the Popular Arab and Islamic conference and Rev.

He was that at time influenced by Dimitrije Mitrinović, attached to the Serbian Delegation in London, who met Mairet in 1917.

A committed pro-European, Stewart was Leader of the Labour Delegation to the Council of Europe in June 1970, and joint president of the Labour Committee for Europe with George Brown and Roy Jenkins.

Ironically, at the Paris Peace Conference the Yugoslav delegation openly insisted that it be known as the " Serbian Delegation.

Therefore, in 1926 Nikolsky was transferred to the INO, the branch of the NKVD responsible for overseas operations, now headed by Artuzov, and sent to Paris under a legal cover of a Soviet Trade Delegation official.

The Delegation was founded in 1901 by French academics Louis Couturat and Leopold Leau, who had noted the language difficulties arising among international bodies convening during the 1900 World's Fair in Paris.

He earned a degree in Jurisprudence with highest honours before joining the British Foreign Service, in which he served in Laos, Pretoria and Bogotá, as well as with the Delegation to NATO in Paris.

During the First World War, Crowe served in the Contraband Department and at the start of the 1919 Paris Peace Conference he was Assistant Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs ; by June 1919 he was head of the political section of the British Delegation there.
