Each of the Hazzard County Sheriff's Department officers drove various mid to late ' 70s Chrysler mid-size B body patrol cars, most often a Dodge Monaco or Plymouth Fury.

Unusual ( for a FWD car ) in having a north-south engine mounting ( presumably to accommodate a future AWD version ), it shared several parts with the Renault 25, and spawned a rebadged version named Dodge Monaco ( 1990 – 1992 ); this platform was the building block for the 1993 LH cars ( Vision, Dodge Intrepid, etc.

The planned all-new 1988 Renault Premier, a joint development effort between American Motors and Renault, and for which the Brampton Assembly plant ( Brampton, Ontario ) was built, was sold by Chrysler as the 1988 – 1992 Eagle Premier, with a rebadged Dodge Monaco variant available from 1990 – 1992.

The 1965 to 1966 Dodge Monaco used a Dodge body, with a Plymouth Fury dashboard and interior trim.

In Canada the four-cylinder variant was available, but seldom ordered, and it replaced the Chrysler LeBaron GTS hatchback since Chrysler Canada did not want to market the Dodge Diplomat's successor, the Monaco in 1990.

From 1990 to 1992, Chrysler also sold a rebadged version as Dodge Monaco.

The Chrysler B platform was the basis for rear-wheel drive Chrysler cars from 1962 through 1979, and the front-wheel drive Eagle Premier / Dodge Monaco 1988 through 1992.

During that period, it powered almost all Chrysler New Yorker and Imperial models, and was also available on the lesser Chryslers, Dodge Polara, Dodge Monaco, and Plymouth Fury as an alternative to the B-block 383 and / or the 318.

The new design, under Castaing's leadership, began with the Eagle Premier, also sold later as the Dodge Monaco.

" The tagline was heard in a cameo for the Pixar film Cars, in which Tom and Ray voiced anthropomorphized vehicles ( Rusty and Dusty Rust-Eze, respectively a 1963 Dodge Dart V1. 0 and 1963 Dodge A100 van, as Lightning McQueen's racing sponsors ) with personalities similar to their own on-air personae.

Hopper was born in Dodge City, Kansas, the son of Marjorie Mae ( née Davis, July 12, 1917-January 12, 2007 ) and James Millard Hopper ( June 23, 1916 – August 7, 1982 ).

Iowa Sen. Augustus C. Dodge immediately reintroduced the same legislation to organize Nebraska that had stalled in the previous session ; it was referred to Douglas ’ s committee on December 14.

The Toyota Van and Dodge Caravan / Plymouth Voyager featured very different structural designs: the Dodge Caravan / Plymouth Voyager had a FF layout and unibody construction, while the Toyota Van Wagon featured a FMR layout and was built on a body-on-frame chassis.

In 1966 Chrysler sold enough of the 426 Hemis to make it available again, and they put it in their new Dodge Charger which had a low-drag rear window that was radically sloped.

During the visit Lincoln was to spend 2 hours with M & M engineer Grenville M. Dodge at the Pacific House Hotel discussing the merits of starting the railroad in Council Bluffs and was to visit Cemetery Hill there to look over the proposed route.

The major investor in the Union Pacific was Thomas Clark Durant, who had made his stake money by smuggling Confederate cotton with the aid of Grenville M. Dodge.

Dodge Brothers enjoyed much success in this field, but the brothers ' growing wish to build complete vehicles was exemplified by John Dodge's 1913 exclamation that he was " tired of being carried around in Henry Ford's vest pocket.

However, the same year, tragedy struck as John Dodge was felled by pneumonia in January.

Stagnation in development was becoming apparent, however, and the public responded by dropping Dodge Brothers to fifth place in the industry by 1925.

That year, the Dodge Brothers company was sold by the widows to the well-known investment group Dillon, Read & Co. for no less than US $ 146 million ( at the time, the largest cash transaction in history ).

Dillon, Read & Co. offered non-voting stock on the market in the new Dodge Brothers, Inc., firm, and along with the sale of bonds was able to raise $ 160 million, reaping a $ 14 million ( net ) profit.

Eventually Dodge was sold to Chrysler Corporation in 1928.

To fit better in the Chrysler Corporation lineup, alongside low-priced Plymouth and medium-priced DeSoto, Dodge ’ s lineup for early 1930 was trimmed down to a core group of two lines and thirteen models ( from three lines and nineteen models just over a year previous ).

The Dodge Eight was replaced by a larger Dodge DeLuxe Six for 1934 and which was dropped for 1935.

Chrysler did make an ill-advised move to downsize the Dodge and Plymouth full-size lines for 1962, which resulted in a loss of sales.

After Dodge dealers complained about not having a true full-size car in the fall of 1961, the Custom 880 was hurried into production.

Dodge ended production of their full-size vans in June 2002 ( as 2003 models ), and replaced it with the German originated Dodge Sprinter, which is based on a narrower, more fuel-efficient European design pattern with a diesel turbo I5.

In urban areas of the United States full-size vans have been used as commuter vans since 1971, when Dodge introduced a van that could transport up to 15 passengers.

After being discontinued in the late 1990s they were re-released in 2000 along with the redesigned 2001 Dodge Caravan as part of a promotional tie-in with DaimlerChrysler Their 1990s packaging consisted of a " miniaturized " version of the full-size cardboard tray and box used in packaging at the time.

Henry Ford II had rejected Iaccoca's and Sperlich's idea ( and a prototype ) of a minivan in 1974, then rumored to carry the name " Maxivan " ( though that was already in use for the extended body version of the full-size Dodge van ).

This new concept car is again a front wheel drive pickup, but is as large as the full-size Dodge Ram.

The success of this model inspired Dodge to reintroduce the Challenger in 2008 and Chevrolet to reintroduce the Camaro for 2010, which unlike previous pony cars, were based off a full-size car architecture.

The Dart was introduced as a lower-priced, shorter wheelbase, full-size Dodge in 1960 and 1961, became a mid-size car for 1962, and finally was a compact from 1963 to 1976.

Sales of the Dart outstripped those of the full-size Dodge Matador and Dodge Polara, but it also created an in-house competitor for Plymouth.

For 1961, the Dart remained the smallest full-size Dodge.

When Dodge dealers voiced their displeasure at having no true full-size car to offer, Chrysler quickly created the Dodge Custom 880 in January 1962 by putting the 1961 Dodge Polara front end assembly on a version of the 1962 Chrysler Newport body.

The Dart was refreshed for 1970 with front and rear changes designed to bring the car closer to the design themes found in Dodge ’ s full-size vehicles through grille and contour changes.

It was introduced in two piston displacement sizes in 1960: The " LG " ( Low-G, referring to the relatively short engine block casting and crankshaft stroke ) in the Valiant, and the " RG " ( Raised-G, referring to the relatively tall engine block casting and crankshaft stroke ) in full-size Plymouth and Dodge Dart models.

It was Chrysler's attempt to compete with the GM A-body, whereas the M-body Dodge Diplomat would compete with full-size cars.

A badge engineered version of the Premier was added using a familiar Chrysler name, the Dodge Monaco, a moniker that was first used by Dodge in 1965 and last used in 1978 on a full-size, rear-drive sedan.

The Plymouth Breeze used the cab forward design, originally introduced by the full-size LH cars ( Chrysler Concorde, Dodge Intrepid, and Eagle Vision ) in 1993.

The Magnum was Dodge's first station wagon since the discontinuation of the Dodge Colt wagon in 1991, and though it was the largest American-brand station wagon introduced since the discontinuation of GM's B body wagons in 1996, at 143 cubic feet of combined passenger and cargo volume, it does not qualify as a full-size wagon according to traditional EPA standards ( 160 cubic feet or more ).
