* 1265 – Second Barons ' War: Battle of Evesham – the army of Prince Edward ( the future king Edward I of England ) defeats the forces of rebellious barons led by Simon de Montfort, 6th Earl of Leicester, killing de Montfort and many of his allies.

On 4 August 1265 Montfort faced an army led by Prince Edward ( the later King Edward I ) and the powerful earl of Gloucester, who had recently defected to the royalist side, at the Battle of Evesham.

* Simon de Montfort, 6th Earl of Leicester, was killed of wounds suffered at the Battle of Evesham in 1265, his corpse was beheaded, castrated and quartered by the knights of King Henry III of England.

Originally the small settlement was controlled by abbots from the local abbey, and when the first weekly market was set up in 1107 by Henry I, he decreed that the proceeds go to Evesham Abbey.

Roger was unable to leave his stronghold in Herefordshire because of efforts by Wulfstan, the Bishop of Worcester, and Æthelwig, the Abbot of Evesham.

Fifteen months later Prince Edward had escaped captivity ( having been freed by his cousin Roger Mortimer ) and led the royalists into battle, turning the tables on de Montfort at the Battle of Evesham in 1265.

Critical events of Henry's reign are well described, including the dismissal of Peter des Roches ( after a politically loaded riddle by Roger Bacon is answered by Henry ), the ejection of Poitevins from England, the conflict with Hubert de Burgh, the marriage of Eleanor with Simon de Montfort, and finally the accession of Henry's son, Edward I after the battle of Evesham.

After a rule of just over a year, de Montfort was killed by forces loyal to the king in the Battle of Evesham.

Such remains as could be found were buried under the altar of Evesham Abbey by some clerks.

A moderate county in New Jersey politics, Burlington County in recent years has become an important area for the Republican Party, especially in more affluent communities that have developed new residential areas, such as Medford, Mount Laurel, Moorestown, and Evesham ( as opposed to areas along the Delaware River occupied by minority and working class households ).

Medford and Evesham had joined the system by 1975.

Evesham Abbey, for instance, as later reported by its own chronicle, also claimed to have lost several of its lands in this way, and Winchcombe was disbanded altogether.

Now it is an unincorporated area within Evesham Township that is tracked for reporting purposes by the United States Census Bureau.

Washington was incorporated as a township by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on November 19, 1802, from portions of Evesham Township, Little Egg Harbor Township and Northampton Township ( now known as Mount Holly Township, New Jersey ).

Medford Township was incorporated as a township by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 1, 1847, from portions of Evesham Township, based on the results of a referendum held that day.

In 1820, when the Post Office opened, the area was officially called Medford of Upper Evesham, using a name that had been pushed by Mark Reeve, a developer who had recently visited Medford, Massachusetts.

On March 1, 1847, Medford Township was " set apart from " Evesham Township by Act of the New Jersey Legislature.

The River Avon can be used by boats with a maximum length of, beam of, height of and draught of from Tewkesbury to Evesham.

The Lower Avon Navigation between Evesham and the River Severn was leased by George Perrott in 1758, who spent over £ 4, 000 upgrading the locks and weirs to enable 40 tonne barges to navigate the river.

Clementi moved outside Lichfield, Staffordshire, in 1830, and spent his final years in Evesham, Worcestershire, where, on 10 March 1832, after a short illness, he died.

Both Prince Henry's Grammar School in Otley, West Yorkshire, and Prince Henry's High School in Evesham, Worcestershire in England are named after him.

The league was formed in the early 1970s and is based around the Vale of Evesham and surrounding districts It is mostly played in Public Houses, Working Men's Clubs, British Legion Clubs, Social and Recreational Clubs within a 12-15 mile radius of Evesham in Worcestershire.
