In 1914, on the eve of the First World War, Carnegie founded the Church Peace Union ( CPU ), a group of leaders in religion, academia, and politics.

The Peace of Basel in 1795 between the French Republic and Prussia and Spain ended the First Coalition against France during the French Revolutionary Wars.

In 1411, the First Peace of Thorn ended the Polish – Lithuanian – Teutonic War, in which the Teutonic Knights fought the Kingdom of Poland and Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

He made this claim in a letter to Franklin D. Roosevelt, at the Paris Peace Conference and at the First Session of the United Nations.

The League of Nations ( abbreviated as LON in English, and SDN in its other official languages ), was an intergovernmental organization founded as a result of the Paris Peace Conference that ended the First World War.

United States President Woodrow Wilson and his adviser Colonel Edward M. House enthusiastically promoted the idea of the League as a means of avoiding any repetition of the bloodshed of the First World War, and the creation of the League was a centrepiece of Wilson's Fourteen Points for Peace.

The Paris Peace Conference, convened to build a lasting peace after the First World War, approved the proposal to create the League of Nations (, ) on 25 January 1919.

According to the 1411 First Peace of Thorn which followed the Teutonic Knights ' defeat in the Battle of Grunwald, the Teutonic Order had to pay high reparations to the Kingdom of Poland.

The region became a part of the Kingdom of Poland province of Royal Prussia with the Second Peace of Thorn ( 1466 ), prospered with the grain trade from southern Poland to the royal city of Gdańsk and then sustained ravages and plagues brought by several Swedish and Prussian invasions during the 17th and early 18th centuries, and was forcefully removed from Kingdom of Poland and annexed into the Kingdom of Prussia as a result of the First Partition of Poland in 1772.

The idea of an international court of justice arose in the political world at the First Hague Peace Conference in 1899, where it was declared that arbitration between states was the easiest solution to disputes, providing a temporary panel of judges to arbitrate in such cases, the Permanent Court of Arbitration.

For his aid, he was granted the Lauenburg ( now Lębork ) and Bütow ( now Bytów ) areas ( Lauenburg and Bütow Land ) and others, but those were lost in the First Peace of Thorn in 1411.

Casimir V of Pomerania-Stettin at the same time allied with the Teutonic Knights and took part in the Battle of Grunwald, where he was caught by the Poles and bailed out by the Knights after the First Peace of Thorn.

Eventually von Plauen was promoted to Grand Master and, in 1411, concluded the First Treaty of Thorn with King Władysław II Jagiełło of Poland.

The provisions of the treaty included confirmation of the First Peace of Thorn between Poland and the Teutonic Knights.
