The moving of millions of the German master-race, from the very heart of Junkerdom, to make room for the Polish Slavs whom they had enslaved and openly planned to exterminate was a drastic operation, but there was little doubt that it was historically justified.

The Polish Home Army conducted a regular campaign of assassinations against top Nazi German officials in occupied Poland.

A popular myth is that Polish cavalry armed with lances charged German tanks during the September 1939 campaign.

This arose from misreporting of a single clash on 1 September near Krojanty, when two squadrons of the Polish 18th Lancers armed with sabres scattered German infantry before being caught in the open by German armoured cars.
