The Gospels of Mark, Matthew and ( most clearly ) Luke relate that Jesus came from Galilee to John in Judea and was baptized by him, whereupon the Spirit descended upon Jesus and a voice from Heaven told him he was God's Son.

Like Cerne it contains the Passion narratives of the four Gospels and a collection of non-liturgical prayers, many of which relate to the Passion.

All four Canonical Gospels report Jesus ' own resurrection from the dead but the Gospels also relate three other occasions on which Jesus calls a dead person back to life:

A preterist discussion of the Tribulation has its focus on the Gospels, in particular the prophetic passages in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21, the Olivet discourse, rather than on the Apocalypse or Book of Revelation.

" Easter processions are representations of different episodes narrated in the Gospels, on the Passion, Crucifixion and Death of Jesus Christ, where each one of these representations is called " Paso ".

In the accounts of the Passion of Jesus in all four Canonical Gospels, the use of the " King of the Jews " title leads to charges against Jesus that result in his Crucifixion.

The Crucifixion from the Durham Gospels

The miniatures of the Rabbula Gospels, notably those representing the Crucifixion, the Ascension and Pentecost, are real pictures with a decorative frame formed of zigzags, curves, rainbows and so forth.

The only record of communal song in the Gospels is the last meeting of the disciples before the Crucifixion.

Moses received the Torah ( Tawrat ), David received the Psalms ( Zabur ), Jesus inspired the Gospels ( Injil ), and Muhammed received the Qur ' an.

By the time the Gospels of Luke and Matthew were written, Jesus is portrayed as being the Son of God from the time of birth, and finally the Gospel of John portrays him as the pre-existent Word () as existing " in the beginning ".

The vision was taken up by all four Gospels and applied to John the Baptist and Jesus, leading God's people out of exile.

For example, both works are soteriological and possess a high Christology, stressing Jesus ' divine nature as opposed to the human nature stressed by the Synoptic Gospels.

Contrary to the canonical Christian Gospels, and in accordance with the Islamic view of Jesus, this later " Gospel of Barnabas " states that Jesus was not the son of God, but a prophet and messenger.

In the Gospel of John, Jesus referred to himself as the Son of God far more frequently than in the Synoptic Gospels.

While the Gospels of Mark and Matthew begin by calling Jesus both Christ and the Son of God, these are two distinct attributions.

Little of Jesus ' childhood is recorded in the canonical Gospels, however infancy Gospels were popular in antiquity.

Christology ( from Greek Χριστός Khristós and ,-logia ) is the field of study within Christian theology which is primarily concerned with the nature and person of Jesus Christ as recorded in the canonical Gospels and the epistles of the New Testament.

The Gospels provide episodes from the life of Jesus and some of his works, but the authors of the New Testament show little interest in an absolute chronology of Jesus or in synchronizing the episodes of his life, and as in John 21: 25, the Gospels do not claim to be an exhaustive list of his works.

Christologies that can be gleaned from the three Synoptic Gospels generally emphasize the humanity of Jesus, his sayings, his parables, and his miracles.

Christians believe that God has established a new covenant with people through Jesus, as recorded in the Gospels, Acts of the Apostles, Epistles, and other books collectively called the New Testament ( the word testament attributed to Tertullian is commonly interchanged with the word covenant ).

According to the canonical Gospels, Jesus was the " son " ( descendant ) of David ; thus, Hajj Sayed argues that this statement confirms the Gospel of Barnabas ' point.
