The Government of Nova Scotia granted CCB a charter for granting university degrees in 1982 which saw the institution rename itself as the University College of Cape Breton ( UCCB ).

This launched Bermuda into a new prominence with the London Government, as its location, near the halfway point from Nova Scotia to the Caribbean, and off the US Atlantic Seaboard, allowed the Royal Navy to operate fully in the area, protecting British trade routes, and potentially commanding the American Atlantic coast in the event of war.

In 2001, Hamm was at odds with the Nova Scotia Government Employees Union, trying to legislate nurses back to work after a legal strike.

In 1858, Alexander Tilloch Galt made a motion in the Legislature at Kingston recommending that the Province of Canada ask the British Government to create a federal union of British North America ( Canada East and West, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia ) and Rupert's Land ( owned by the Hudson's Bay Company ).

In 1997, the provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland ( now Newfoundland and Labrador ) and the Government of Canada merged their respective sales taxes into the Harmonized Sales Tax ( HST ).

In 1996, three of the four Atlantic provinces — New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Nova Scotia — entered into an agreement with the Government of Canada to implement what was initially termed the Blended Sales Tax ( renamed to Harmonized Sales Tax ) which would combine the 7 % federal GST with the provincial sales taxes of those provinces ; as part of this project, the PST portion of the new HST in these provinces dropped from 10 % to 8 %.

Londuimbali, Vila Nova and some other large towns in the Province were already under the rule of the Government, and in December 1999 the administration of the state had been reestablished in all municipal capitals.

Inasmuch as the Provinces of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick have joined in a Declaration that the Construction of the Intercolonial Railway is essential to the Consolidation of the Union of British North America, and to the Assent thereto of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, and have consequently agreed that Provision should be made for its immediate Construction by the Government of Canada ; Therefore, in order to give effect to that Agreement, it shall be the Duty of the Government and Parliament of Canada to provide for the commencement, within Six Months after the Union, of a Railway connecting the River St. Lawrence with the City of Halifax in Nova Scotia, and for the Construction thereof without Intermission, and the Completion thereof with all practicable Speed.

In 1998, the CAW was deeply involved in discussions with Volvo Canada LTD. and the Government of Nova Scotia over the closure of the Volvo Halifax Assembly plant.

As stated by McEvoy in ' Religion and Politics in Foreign Policy: Canadian Government Relations with the Vatican ', " Cahan, though a Presbyterian, had forged close contacts with the Catholic clergy both in his native Nova Scotia and later in Quebec.

He was instrumental, first as a local MLA, then as Industry Minister in the Government of John Buchanan, and then as Premier, in the development of the Westray Mine in Pictou County, Nova Scotia.

Originally this facility was developed with an airfield and army training centre, however these facilities were decommissioned in the 1970s and ownership transferred to the Government of Nova Scotia to be operated as the Debert Air Industrial Park.

Following decommissioning of the REGH and removal of the last military presence at CFS Debert in the 1990s, this facility was transferred to the Government of Nova Scotia and then the Colchester Regional Development Authority to operate as Colchester Park.

Since after independence from Portugal in 1975, a number of Cape Verdean students continued to be admitted every year at Portuguese high schools, polytechnical institutes and universities, through bilateral agreements between the Portuguese Government and the Cape Verdean Government.

The Dutch East India Company needed skilled farmers at the Cape of Good Hope and the Dutch Government saw opportunities for the Huguenots at the Cape and sent them over.

Sealink's agreement with the SA Government, expiring in 2024, precludes other operators from using the Cape Jervis facility for one hour before, and one hour after any scheduled SeaLink service.

Schreiner remained as head of the Cape Government until June 1900.

The three neighbouring settlements of East London, East London East and Panmure were merged as East London by the Cape Government in 1873, forming the core of the current municipality.

When the Xhosa rose against the Cape Government, large numbers of the Khoi, for the first time, joined the Xhosa rebels.

After the war and the defeat of the rebellion, the new Cape Government endeavored to grant the Khoi meaningful political rights to avert any future racial discontent.
