The iconic Holden Monaro coupé, introduced in 1968 and based on the mainstream Holden Kingswood | Kingswood, has since gained a cult following.

The Holden Monaro | Monaro coupé was resurrected in 2001 as a low-volume niche model.

In 2004 the re-introduction of the Pontiac GTO ( based on the Holden Monaro from Australia ) took place, effectively replacing the spot left by the TransAm and Camaro.

The 21st century GTO is essentially a left-hand drive Holden Monaro, itself a coupe variant of the Holden Commodore.

The Pontiac GTO that was relaunched in the United States in 2004 was a rebadged third generation Holden Monaro.

The Monaro is a 2-door coupe variant of the Australian developed VT / VX Holden Commodore.

The idea of importing a rear-wheel-drive Holden as a GM North American performance offering gradually transformed into importing the Commodore-based Monaro.

Lutz, as well as other GM executives, later drove a Holden Monaro while on a business trip in Australia, which convinced them that importing the car could be a profitable venture.

All future Vauxhalls would be simply badge-engineered Opels, or in the case of the 2004 Vauxhall Monaro, a rebadged Holden.

Berserk motorcycle gang member Crawford " Nightrider " Montizano has escaped police custody and is attempting to outrun the Main Force Patrol ( MFP ) in a stolen Pursuit Special ( Holden Monaro ).

The Nightrider's vehicle, another Pursuit Special, was a 1972 Holden HQ LS Monaro coupe.

The Holden Monaro is a Muscle car that was produced by GM Holden Ltd, an Australian subsidiary of General Motors, between 1968 and 1977 and between 2001 and 2005.

Sales of the full-size Holden Suburban SUV sourced from Chevrolet commenced in 1998 — lasting until 2001.

Following Holden's successful application for a A $ 149 million government grant to build a localised version of the Chevrolet Cruze in Australia from 2011, Holden in 2009 announced that it would initially import the small car unchanged from South Korea as the Holden Cruze.

Some use small car based trucks as donors such as the Mitsubishi L300, Mazda E1800 ( same gearbox as the MX5 ) and Suzuki Carry ( aka Bedford Rascal, Vauxhall Rascal, Holden Scurry, Chevrolet Supercarry and Maruti Omni ).

It was Vauxhall's version of the family of small " T-Cars " from Vauxhall's parent General Motors ( GM ); the family included the Opel Kadett in Germany, the Isuzu Gemini in Japan, the Holden Gemini in Australia, the Chevrolet Chevette in the United States, Canada and Brazil, the AYMESA Cóndor in Ecuador and a badge-engineered Pontiac Acadian / Pontiac T1000 across North America.

Gerry raced Lotus Elans, the special Costin Amigo, Ford Escorts ( winning the inaugural Mexico Championship from Jody Scheckter in 1971 and also finishing runner up to Roger Clark in the 1974 Avon Tour of Britain ), Lola T70, Holden Torana at Bathurst, Hillman Avenger, Clan Crusader, Austin Marina, Birdcage Maserati, Mk2 Jaguar, Sunbeam Tiger Le Mans, Porsche 924, an Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet Camaro and BMWs.

Since then, GM has been moving to rebadge Daewoo cars as models for many brands, including Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, Holden, and Suzuki.

Perhaps most notably, GM Korea operates a factory here which assembles the Chevrolet Aveo worldwide and as the Holden Barina in Australia and New Zealand.

GM Korea now produces vehicles and kits for Chevrolet, Holden, Opel / Vauxhall and Buick that are offered in more than 150 markets on six continents.

The end of the same year, GM Daewoo introduced the Winstorm-its first proper SUV, which was, as the Lacetti, sold worldwide under different marques and names including Opel, Chevrolet, GMC and Holden, and previously Saturn before the demise of that brand in 2010.

Models sold as Vauxhall, Holden or Chevrolet have different generation designations reflecting the history of those nameplates in their home markets and their naming conventions.

It has also been sold by Holden in Australasia as Holden Vectra, and Chevrolet in Latin America as Chevrolet Vectra.

This model was part of GM's family of compact " J-cars ", along with the Ascona, the Australian Holden Camira, the Brazilian Chevrolet Monza, the Japanese Isuzu Aska, and the North American Chevrolet Cavalier, Pontiac Sunbird, Buick Skyhawk, Oldsmobile Firenza, and Cadillac Cimarron.

The revival was prompted by former GM North America Chairman Bob Lutz, who had the idea of importing a Holden Commodore-based vehicle after reading a Car and Driver review of the Holden Commodore SS, published circa 2000.

Car and Driver praised the performance of the V8 powered, rear-wheel-drive Holden Commodore SS, but noted that even though it was one of the best vehicles that GM offered at the time, it could not be purchased in the United States.

Holden released the sports-oriented Commodore SS sedan in September 1982 — reintroducing a nameplate used briefly ten years prior with the HQ series.

Holden also experimented by releasing a limited edition wagon version of its high-performance SS variant, of which only 850 were built.

In late 2004, Holden introduced the VZ range of Commodore vehicles which in 2005 were upgraded to feature the 6. 0-litre L76 V8 engine in SS sedans and other variants.

The first car produced by HSV was the Holden VL Commodore SS Group A SV in 1988 ( based on the VL Commodore and not to be confused with the HDT's similarly named Holden VL Commodore SS Group A ).

Notable models produced by Holden Special Vehicles include the Holden VL Commodore SS Group A SV and Holden VN Commodore SS Group A SV ( both developed and produced for Holden ), and the HSV badged SV 5000, Clubsport, Senator, GTS, GTS-R, XU6 and Grange models.
