He claimed the land in the name of the Holy Trinity for the English Crown as called Nova Albion — Latin for " New Britain ".

The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office speaks of Vatican City as the " capital " of the Holy See, although it compares the legal personality of the Holy See to that of the Crown in Christian monarchies and declares that the Holy See and the state of Vatican City are two international identities.

In Hungarian Christianity, traces of Manichaeism can be found both in Catholicism and in Protestant Christianity, Manichaeian symbols are present in folk art, in Protestant churches and even on the Holy Crown.

Louis had no problem in having his daughter's rights to the Holy Crown of Hungary recognized, but it took a set of concessions known as the Privilege of Koszyce to establish Catherine as heiress presumptive and further bargaining with the Estates on Mary's behalf after Catherine's death in 1378.

The province became part of the Bohemian Crown under the Holy Roman Empire, and passed with that crown to the Habsburg Monarchy of Austria in 1526.

So the mission of St. Stephen was to grant a norm to Hungary through the Holy Crown ( also called the Doctrine of the Holy Crown ).

Stephen I is closely tied to the Crown of St. Stephen and the Doctrine of the Holy Crown which marks a unique tradition of the Kingdom of Hungary.

This contract is also the basis for the Doctrine of the Holy Crown and the basis for the Apostolic Kingdom of Hungary.

Without a living heir, on his deathbed, King St. Istvan raised with his right hand the Holy Crown of Hungary, and prayed to the Blessed Virgin Mary, asking her to take the Hungarian people as her subjects and become their queen.

Hungarians interpreted the incorruptibility of his right arm and hand-with which he had held the Holy Crown aloft from his deathbed when asking Virgin Mary to be the Queen of the Hungarians-as a sign that the Blessed Virgin Mary had accepted the king's offer to her of the Hungarian people, and she remains officially their queen.

The Holy Crown, popularly attributed to St. Stephen, was removed from the country in 1945 for safekeeping, and entrusted to the United States government.

( For some years, the baron's council governed the country in the name of the Holy Crown ).

Maria was a daughter of Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor and Anna of Bohemia and Hungary.

This proved unsuccessful: in 1396 the Christian allies, under the leadership of the King of Hungary and future Holy Roman Emperor ( in 1433 ) Sigismund, were defeated in the Battle of Nicopolis.

Therefore, many voices, including Sigismund, King of Germany and Hungary ( and later Holy Roman Emperor ) pressed for another council to resolve the issue.

In 1521 he made an arrangement with Petar Keglević and pulled back from Hungary and Croatia ; this arrangement, accepted by Louis II in 1526, was not accepted by Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand I until 1559.

Leaders and members of Unitas Fratrum were forced to choose to either leave the many and varied southeastern principalities of what was the Holy Roman Empire ( mainly Austria, Hungary, Bohemia, Moravia and parts of Germany and its many states ), or to practice their beliefs secretly.

By January 1944, Germany had diplomatic relations with only a handful of countries: Argentina, Ireland, Vichy France, the Salo Republic in Italy, Occupied Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Croatia, Bulgaria, Switzerland, the Holy See, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Thailand, Japan, and the Japanese puppet states of Manchukuo and the Wang Jingwei regime in China.

During the 16th and 17th centuries, in particular at the height of its power under the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent, the Ottoman Empire was one of the most powerful states in the world – a multinational, multilingual empire that stretched from the southern borders of the Holy Roman Empire to the outskirts of Vienna, Royal Hungary ( modern Slovakia ) and the Polish – Lithuanian Commonwealth in the north to Yemen and Eritrea in the south ; from Algeria in the west to Azerbaijan in the east ; controlling much of southeast Europe, Western Asia and North Africa.

King Andrew II of Hungary and, somewhat later, a fleet of crusaders from the region along the Lower Rhine finally departed for the Holy Land.

Rudolf II ( July 18, 1552 – January 20, 1612 ) was Holy Roman Emperor ( 1576 – 1612 ), King of Hungary and Croatia ( 1572 – 1608 ), King of Bohemia ( 1575 – 1608 / 1611 ) and Archduke of Austria ( 1576 – 1608 ).

He was the eldest son and successor of Maximilian II, Holy Roman Emperor, King of Bohemia, and King of Hungary and Croatia ; his mother was Maria of Spain, a daughter of Charles V and Isabella of Portugal.

As the ambassador of the Holy Roman Empire to Constantinople was to note, " The capture of Belgrade was at the origin of the dramatic events which engulfed Hungary.

According to Hungarian tradition, Pope Silvester II, with the consent of Otto III, Holy Roman Emperor, sent a magnificent jeweled gold crown to Stephen along with an apostolic cross and a letter of blessing officially recognizing Stephen as the Christian king of Hungary.

Later this tradition was interpreted as the papal recognition of the independence of Hungary from the Holy Roman Empire.

After the death of Henry II ( 3 July 1024 ), Stephen broke with the German alliance, because the new Holy Roman Emperor, Conrad II claimed supremacy over the Kingdom of Hungary, while Stephen demanded the Duchy of Bavaria for his son Emeric who was the nearest relative of the deceased Emperor Henry II ( who himself had been the last male descendant of the old dukes of Bavaria ).

Apart from the Holy Right, only some bone fragments remain, which are kept in churches throughout Hungary.

During the Middle Ages, Anthony, along with Quirinus of Neuss, Cornelius and Hubertus, was venerated as one of the Four Holy Marshals ( Vier Marschälle Gottes ) in the Rhineland.

Bethlehem — along with Jerusalem, Nazareth, and Sidon — was briefly ceded to the Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem by a treaty between Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II and Ayyubid Sultan al-Kamil in 1229, in return for a ten-year truce between the Ayyubids and the Crusaders.

Both differ substantially from the Book of Common Prayer, though the latter includes in the Order Two form of the Holy Communion a very slight revision of the prayer book service, largely along the lines proposed for the 1928 Prayer Book.

In 1226 Duke Konrad I of Masovia summoned the Teutonic Knights for assistance ; by 1230 they had secured Chełmno ( Culm ) and begun claiming conquered territories for themselves under the authority of the Holy Roman Empire, although these claims were rejected by the Poles, whose ambition had been to conquer Prussia all along.

In the Roman Catholic Church he is numbered among the Doctors of the Church ; in Eastern Orthodoxy and the Eastern Catholic Churches he is revered as one of the Three Holy Hierarchs, along with Basil the Great and John Chrysostom.

There was a school in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, where the basic skills of reading and writing Latin were taught ; the relative wealth of the merchant class meant that their children could be educated there along with the children of nobles – it is likely that William of Tyre was a classmate of future king Baldwin III.

Liechtenstein maintains resident embassies in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Holy See, Switzerland and the United States, along with a number of missions to international organisations.

Legnica, along with other Silesian duchies, became a vassal of the Kingdom of Bohemia during the 14th century and was included within the Holy Roman Empire.

Horses carried limestone, along the Holy Island Waggonway, from a quarry on the north side of the island to the lime kilns, where it was burned with coal transported from Dundee, Scotland.

Holy Island was considered part of the Islandshire unit along with several mainland parishes.

Wesley, along with his brother, founded the Holy Club while they were at Oxford, where John was a fellow and later a lecturer at Lincoln College.

But Honorius III really had too large a task ; besides the liberation of the Holy Land, he felt bound to forward the repression of Cathar heresy in the south of France, the war for the faith in the Spanish peninsula, the planting of Christianity in the lands along the Baltic Sea, and the maintenance of the impossible Latin empire in Constantinople.

Their literature has referred to their organization collectively as God's " prophet " on earth ; this is understood, however, in the sense of declaring their interpretation of God's judgments from the Bible along with God's guidance of His Holy Spirit.

Princes and nobles were initiated ; and in 1429 even the emperor Sigismund himself became “ a true and proper Freischöffe of the Holy Roman Empire .” There is a manuscript in the Town Hall of the Westphalian town of Soest, which consists of an original Vehmic Court Regulation document, along with illustrations.

In return Bethlen received several counties and lands along the eastern border of the Holy Roman Empire, and Moravia was granted religious freedom.

The order of the Knights of St. John was originally established to set up outposts along the route to the Holy Land, to assist pilgrims going in either direction.

After some five years of siege, Manuel II entrusted the city to his nephew and embarked ( along with a suite of 40 people ) on a long trip abroad to seek assistance against the Ottoman Empire from the courts of western Europe, including those of Henry IV of England ( making him the only Byzantine emperor ever to visit England – he was welcomed from December 1400 to January 1401 at Eltham Palace, and a joust took place in his honour ), Charles VI of France, the Holy Roman Empire, Queen Margaret I of Denmark and from Aragon.

The biblical narrative of Pentecost, where the 12 Disciples of Christ ( Acts 1: 13, 26 ) along with about 108 other individuals ( Acts 1: 15 ), including many women, among whom was Mary the mother of Jesus ( Acts 1: 14 ) received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit in the Upper Room, is given in the second chapter of the Book of Acts.

The holiday was also one of the three days each year ( along with Christmas and Easter ) Roman Catholics were required to confess and receive the sacrament of Holy Communion in order to remain in good church standing.
