The club was also involved in a survey of wetlands around Bangalore in collaboration with the Forest Department of the Karnataka state and was involved in a comprehensive survey of water quality parameters including chemical, physical and biological status.

The B. V. Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology ( BVBCET ) in Hubli, Karnataka was founded in 1947.

In 2008, over 500 monks, who refused to adhere to the ban against the protective deity Dorje Shugden, enforced by the Dalai Lama's government in exile, were expelled from the Ganden Monastery in Mundgod, Karnataka, and founded in its immediate neighborhood the Shar Gaden Monastery, scheduled to be officially opened in 23 – 26 October 2009.

The Chipko movement became a benchmark for socio-ecological movements in other forest areas of Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Bihar ; in September 1983, Chipko inspired a similar, Appiko movement in Karnataka state of India, where tree felling in the Western Ghats and Vindhyas was stopped.

Roger Michael Humphrey Binny ( born 19 July 1955, Bangalore, Karnataka ) is an Indian former cricket all-rounder who is best known for his impressive bowling performance in the 1983 Cricket World Cup where he was the highest wicket-taker ( 18 wickets ), and in the 1985 World Series Cricket Championship in Australia where he repeated this feat ( 17 wickets ).
