The Nakdong River ( Rakdong in North Korean ) is the longest river in South Korea, and passes through major cities such as Daegu and Busan.

The river basin has been a favored dwelling-place for as long as people have inhabited the Korean peninsula.

Although some North Korean forces did cross the Nakdong River in places, for the most part the river still marks their furthest advance.

The river has also become a noted spot for recreational fishing for species including Korean aucha perch, catfish, dark chub, and pale chub.

The North Korean station in Tumangang Workers ' District, Sonbong County, is directly across the river.

The new Seoul Opera house, which will be the anchor for Korean opera has just been given the go-ahead, is set for a $ 300 million dollar home on an island on the Han river.
