María Eva Duarte de Perón (; 7 May 1919 – 26 July 1952 ) was an Argentine political leader, the second wife of President Juan Perón ( 1895 – 1974 ) and served as the First Lady of Argentina from 1946 until her death in 1952.

On July 31, 2002, the Pope canonized Juan Diego before a crowd of 12 million, and later that year included in the General Calendar of the Roman Rite, as optional memorials, the liturgical celebrations of Saint Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin ( December 9th ) and Our Lady of Guadalupe ( December 12th ).

Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin or Juan Diego ( July 12, 1474 – May 30, 1548 ) was, according to Mexican Catholic tradition, an indigenous Mexican who reported a Marian apparition, Our Lady of Guadalupe, in 1531.

Recognizing the Lady as the Virgin Mary, Juan Diego went to the bishop as instructed, but the Spanish bishop, Fray Juan de Zumárraga was doubtful and told Juan Diego he needed a sign.

Juan Diego returned to Tepeyac hill and explained to the Lady that the bishop did not believe him.

Later that day, the Lady promised Juan Diego she would give him a sign the following day.

The next morning, December 12, Juan Diego decided not to meet with the Lady, but to find a priest who could administer the last rites to his dying uncle.

The Lady re-arranged the roses carefully inside the folded tilma that Juan Diego wore and told him not to open it before anyone but the bishop.
