The Lambda 10 Project is a national clearinghouse of information pertaining to LGBT issues in American fraternities and sororities.

Working with the renowned LGBT publisher Alyson Publications, Lambda 10 also compiled and released three anthologies of homosexual and bisexual students ' Greek experiences: Out on Fraternity Row: Personal Accounts of Being Gay in a College Fraternity ( 1998 ), Secret Sisters: Stories of Being Lesbian and Bisexual in a College Sorority ( 2001 ) and Brotherhood: Gay Life in College Fraternities ( 2005 ).

Lambda 10 Project is an educational initiative of Campus Pride, an American national nonprofit 501 ( c )( 3 ) organization which serves lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender ( LGBT ) and Ally Student Leaders and / or Campus Organization.

Delta Lambda Phi was founded on October 15, 1986 by Vernon L. Strickland III in Washington, D. C. and incorporated in the same city on September 10, 1987.

The members of the Alpha Class of the Alpha Chapter were initiated as the first brothers of Delta Lambda Phi on April 10, 1987.

At the University of Evansville, the present-day Newman Center house was purchased from the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity in 1964, and after renovations, it was blessed and dedicated by Bishop Henry Grimmelsman on October 10, 1965, in the last year of his great tenure as the first Bishop of Evansville, a see and diocese created for him.

Thus book 1 is called Alpha ( Α ); 2, little alpha ( α ); 3, Beta ( Β ); 4, Gamma ( Γ ); 5, Delta ( Δ ); 6, Epsilon ( Ε ); 7, Zeta ( Ζ ); 8, Eta ( Η ); 9, Theta ( Θ ); 10, Iota ( Ι ); 11, Kappa ( Κ ); 12, Lambda ( Λ ); 13, Mu ( Μ ); 14, Nu ( Ν ).

* Lambda was used by Pythagoras to denote the " Lambda number sequence " 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 8, 27, ..., formed by the integers of the form 2 < sup > i </ sup > and 3 < sup > i </ sup >, for nonnegative integer i.

Lambda phage was discovered by Esther Lederberg in 1950 when it was noticed that a colony produced by replica plating was " nibbled and plaqued ".

Newman subsequently arranged for Turing to visit Princeton where Alonzo Church was working on the same problem but using his Lambda calculus.

Scheme was developed at the MIT AI Lab by Guy L. Steele and Gerald Jay Sussman who introduced it to the academic world via a series of memos, now referred to as the Lambda Papers, over the period 1975 – 1980.

Nicolas Louis de Lacaille gave twelve stars Bayer designations of Alpha through to Lambda, with two close stars called Eta, while Lambda was later dropped due to its dimness.

* October 24 – Lambda Sigma Gamma Sorority Inc. was founded at Sacramento State by Linda V. Fuentes and 26 Founding Mothers.

In 1919, his family moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma, where he attended Oklahoma A & M ( now Oklahoma State University ) and was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity until 1921.

He entered Baldwin-Wallace College in 1941 and joined Pi Lambda Phi International Fraternity, and two years later was drafted into the Army.

Lambda was chosen because people might confuse it for a college symbol and not recognize it as a gay community symbol unless one was actually involved in the community.

The first complete implementation of the NuBus was done by Western Digital for their NuMachine, and for the Lisp Machines Inc. LMI Lambda.

The first known radial-configuration engine to ever use a twin-row design was the 160 hp Gnôme " Double Lambda " rotary engine of 1912, designed as a 14-cylinder twin-row version of the firm's 80 hp Lambda single-row seven-cylinder rotary, with only the German Oberursel U. III clone of the Double Lambda reproducing the Gnome Double Lambda's twin-row design before the end of World War I.

It is named after Oliver R. Smoot, a fraternity pledge to Lambda Chi Alpha, who in October 1958 lay on the Harvard Bridge ( between Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts ), and was used by his fraternity brothers to measure the length of the bridge.

While attending Ohio Wesleyan, Vogel was a member of the Beta Sigma Tau fraternity ( that later merged with the Pi Lambda Phi fraternity ).

Although a new concept in the world of motorsport, the first vehicle to feature such a chassis was the road-going 1922 Lancia Lambda.

He attended Duke University, where he studied Russian, religion, and literature and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.

In July 2012, Lambda founder Bill Thom was interviewed at his nursing home in Manhattan, and gave a first-hand account of the early years of Lambda Legal.

* March 15 – The Phi Lambda Chi fraternity ( original name " The Aztecs ") is founded on the campus of Arkansas State Teacher's College in Conway, Arkansas ( now the University of Central Arkansas ).

Willis Hall where Lambda Theta Phi, the first Latin fraternity in the United States, was founded on December 1, 1975.

The only chapters that were founded during the years of the Great Depression were Beta Kappa at the University of Alabama and Beta Lambda at Wake Forest.

Pi Delta Phi established communications with Phi Lambda Alpha ( ΦΛA ) fraternity, which had been recently founded in 1919, in the Western Province of the United States, at the University of California, Berkeley.

In 1904, an organization with similar goals as Phi Lambda Alpha was founded under the name “ Sociedad Hispano-Americana ” at Louisiana State University.

The holiday was founded in 1999 by Lambda Legal, a gay rights advocacy law firm based out of Washington, DC.

They consist of Alpha Delta Phi ( founded at Hamilton College ), Chi Psi, Delta Chi, Delta Kappa Epsilon, Delta Phi, Delta Upsilon, Lambda Upsilon Lambda, Psi Upsilon, Sigma Phi, Tau Kappa Epsilon and Theta Delta Chi.

Lambda Lambda Lambda ( ΛΛΛ or Tri-Lambs ) is a national collegiate co-ed social fraternity founded on January 15th, 2006 at University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut by students Nick Carroll, Mark Allatin, Andrew Burke, Jabaree Dunham-Carson, Chris Hayden, Brian Behrens, Nick Ivanoff, Matt Mainella, Lisa Weand, and Garrett Waldron.

It took root at no fewer than fourteen colleges in those latter days: Omega was founded at University of Chicago in 1864 ; Pi at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1865 ; Lambda, Bowdoin College, 1867 ; Beta, University of Virginia, 1868 ; Psi, Cornell University, 1868 ; Iota, UC Berkeley, 1870 ; Gamma, first at the US Naval Academy in 1874, and then at Syracuse College in 1875 after the government proscribed Fraternities at its military academies ; Theta Xi, University of Toronto, 1879 ; Alpha, Columbia University, 1879 ; Alpha Psi, McGill University, 1883 ; Nu, Case Western Reserve, 1884 ; Eta, Yale, 1889 ; Mu, Stanford, 1892 ; Alpha Beta, University of Minnesota, 1899 ( The establishment of the Eta chapter at Yale made Zeta Psi the only fraternity to establish chapters at all eight Ivy-League schools ).

The Delta Lambda Phi Alumni Association ( DLPAA ) was founded on July 21, 2003, and lists 42 brothers as its founding members.

Alpha Lambda Delta was founded in 1924 by the Dean of Women, Maria Leonard, at the University of Illinois to recognize academic excellence among freshmen women.

The Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity Foundation, was founded in 1938 to provide educational scholarships for the brothers of the fraternity and reestablished in its current form in 1991 as " Pi Lambda Phi Educational Foundation, Inc .", is the fraternity's charitable arm.

The company was founded in 1979 by a trio from Fairchild Semiconductor by way of Synertek-Jack Balletto, Dan Floyd, Gunnar Wetlesen-and by Doug Fairbairn of Xerox PARC and Lambda ( later VLSI Design ) magazine.

Alpha Kappa Lambda ( ΑΚΛ ) is an American collegiate social fraternity for men founded at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1914.

The first professional fraternity was founded at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky in 1819: the Kappa Lambda Society of Aesculapius, established for the purpose of bringing together students of the medical profession.
