The Braves swept the Houston Astros in three games in the 1997 National League Division Series before losing to the eventual world champion Florida Marlins in the 1997 National League Championship Series.

The Marlins swept the Giants in the series and defeated the Atlanta Braves in the 1997 National League Championship Series ( NLCS ) to face the Cleveland Indians in the World Series.

Batavia swept the Florida Marlins affiliate the Jamestown Jammers to claim the 2008 NY-Penn League championship on September 14, 2008 by a score of 9-3, after defeating the Boston Red Sox affiliate the Lowell Spinners two games to one in the semi-finals.
