On March 17, 1752, the Governor-General of New France, Marquis de la Jonquière died, and was temporarily replaced by Charles le Moyne de Longueuil.

However, after the second Restoration in 1815, Sieyès was expelled for his role in the execution of King Louis XVI, and was replaced by the Marquis of Lally-Tollendal, who was named to the Academy by a royal decree.

A year after the Cougar and Marquis were introduced, the front-wheel-drive Topaz replaced the Zephyr.

Originally intended to be replaced by the Sable, stability in gas prices and demand for full-size car sales led to the continuation of the Grand Marquis and Colony Park.

In 1992, the Grand Marquis was redesigned for the first time since 1979 ; using the same platform as before, it shared no sheetmetal with the 1991 model and both V8 engines were replaced with a single all-new design.

A casualty of the 1992 redesign of the Grand Marquis included the Colony Park station wagon ; by the early 1990s, full-size station wagons had largely been replaced by minivans.

The exception was the Grand Marquis, which had all but replaced the civilian Crown Victoria ; the latter was discontinued from retail sale after 2007.

After the 2007 model year, this version of the Grand Marquis was replaced by the new full-size Ford Taurus.

In March 1822, José Bernardo de Tagle, Marquis of Torre Tagle and Supreme Delegate of the Republic, who replaced San Martín provisionally when the latter traveled to Guayaquil, decreed a new design for the flag.

Order having been restored, mutton replaced to the table, every possible civility was thereafter directed by all present toward the Marquis.

Its members comprise Jake Shears and Ana Matronic as vocalists, Babydaddy as multi-instrumentalist, Del Marquis as lead guitar / bassist, and Randy Real as drummer ( who replaced Paddy Boom ).

The smaller Fox-based Marquis dropped the Zephyr's long-used 3. 3 L I6 for 1984 and replaced it with the larger and more powerful 3. 8 L " Essex " V6, but kept the same 2. 3 L I4 as standard and the same 5. 0 L V8 as an option.

The Fox-based Marquis was replaced by the 1986 Mercury Sable ; however, it continued production into early 1986, albeit without the 5. 0L option.

The Marquis name gradually replaced Monterey.

Jones was replaced in left field by a platoon of Charles Thomas, an unknown rookie, and Eli Marrero, a fairly obscure catcher / outfielder who was considered the much less important half of the trade in which the Braves acquired him and J. D. Drew for pitchers Jason Marquis, Ray King, and Adam Wainwright.

As Ford Motor Company adopted front-wheel drive cars during the 1980s, the Marquis was phased out after the 1986 model year ; it was replaced by the Mercury Sable, the twin of the Ford Taurus.

To fill the gap, the Marquis name was taken from the full-size Mercury line ; Ford had done the same thing as the LTD had replaced the Granada.

The midsize Marquis was produced in Hapeville, Georgia until December 13, 1985 and Chicago, Illinois until January 3, 1986, when it was replaced by the front-wheel drive Mercury Sable.

The Central Junta fled on 23 January and was replaced by a revolutionary government led by Francisco Palafox, the Marquis of La Romana, and Francisco Saavedra, the original head of the Junta of Seville in 1808.

Iacocca participated in the design of several successful Ford automobiles, most notably the Ford Mustang, the Lincoln Continental Mark III, the Ford Escort and the revival of the Mercury brand in the late 1960s, including the introduction of the Mercury Cougar and Mercury Marquis.

The Cougar sedan and wagon remained in production, borrowing the Marquis nameplate from the full-size Mercury lineup ( with the Grand Marquis / Colony Park becoming the sole full-size models ).

Although the post-1983 Cougar was easily distinguishable from the Thunderbird, the Capri, Lynx, Topaz, and Marquis differed little from their Ford counterparts.

An all-new Cougar greeted buyers in 1983 ; gone were the sedan and station wagon models which were facelifted and moved under the Marquis nameplate.

In 1983, the sedan and wagon versions of the Cougar were reskinned and rebadged as the Mercury Marquis, as Mercury downsized that product line into the mid-size segment.

The Grand Marquis became a model in its own right in 1983 when the Marquis nameplate was shifted to the Fox platform to replace the unpopular sedan and wagon models of the Cougar.

After losing some 800 pounds and over a foot in length, for 1979, the Marquis was left shorter and lighter than the " mid-size " Cougar.

A significant introduction was the replacement of the 5. 0 L and 5. 8 L Windsor V8 engines with the overhead-cam 4. 6 L Modular engine ; aside from the similar Grand Marquis and Town Car, no other American sedan in the Crown Victoria's price range offered such an engine.

The Mercury Grand Marquis was a full-size rear-wheel drive sedan sold by the Lincoln-Mercury division of the Ford Motor Company ; the Grand Marquis was the flagship of the Mercury lineup.

1975 – 1978 Grand Marquis 4-door sedan

The Grand Marquis nameplate remained on the Panther platform as Mercury's flagship sedan.

The Grand Marquis was available in three body styles: a two-door sedan, a four-door sedan, and a station wagon.

After 1983, the station wagon was discontinued, subsequently offered only as the woodgrained Colony Park ; it shared much of its interior trim with the deluxe-trim Grand Marquis LS sedan.

The 2-door sedan was dropped from the lineup in the later part of 1986 due to slow sales ; Grand Marquis coupes are hard to find today.

This generation of Marquis was available as a full line of cars, with two-and four-door hardtops, a four-door pillared sedan, a convertible, and a station wagon.

The 351M small-block V8 entered the lineup in 1978 to increase the fuel economy of the Marquis ; for that year, the 460 was reserved only for the Grand Marquis and Colony Park wagon.

The Marquis de Feuquières writing after the battle described the scene – " They advanced in four lines … As they approached they advanced their second and fourth lines into the intervals of their first and third lines ; so that when they made their advance upon us, they formed only one front, without any intermediate spaces.

The population migrations around 1200 – 1100 BC reduced the shipping of tin around the Mediterranean ( and from Great Britain ), limiting supplies and raising prices. The town was retaken by the Duke of Savoy in 1630 ; and in 1691 it was captured by the troops of the Marquis de Vins during the War of the League of Augsburg.

Despite ordering a cease fire, which prevented a mutual massacre, Governor Marquis Bernard de Launay was beaten, stabbed and decapitated ; his head was placed on a pike and paraded about the city.

Isidro Sepúlveda, William Jackson and George Hills explicitly refute it ( Sepúlveda points out that if such a fact had actually happened, it would have caused a big crisis in the Alliance supporting the Archduke Charles ; George Hills explains that the story was first accounted by the Marquis of San Felipe, who wrote his book " Comentarios de la guerra de España e historia de su rey Phelipe V el animoso " in 1725, more than twenty years after the fact ; the marquis was not an eye-witness and cannot be considered as a reliable source for the facts that took place in Gibraltar in 1704.

A hall was opened by Le Normant de Tournehem and the Marquis de Marigny for public viewing of the Tableaux du Roy on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and contained Andrea del Sarto's Charity and works by Raphael ; Titian ; Veronese ; Rembrandt ; Poussin or Van Dyck, until its closing in 1780 as a result of the gift of the palace to the comte de Provence by the king in 1778.

At that time, forces under Ambrogio Spinola, 1st Marquis of the Balbases, the Genoese commander of the Spanish army, would be able to pass through friendly territories to reach the Dutch Republic ; the only hostile state that stood in his way was the Electorate of the Palatinate.

The Duke at the time, the founder and colonel of the regiment, was the Duchess of Richmond's father, and he saw no active service overseas during the Napoleonic Wars ; his son and the Duchess's brother, the Marquis of Huntly ( later the 5th Duke ) was a distinguished general, but also missed the Waterloo campaign ; the senior representative of the family at the battle was in fact the Duchess's own twenty-three-year-old son, the Earl of March, who would eventually become the 5th Duke's heir in 1836, and who served as a major and an aide de camp to the Duke of Wellington ; another branch of the family was represented by another ADC, Colonel Sir Alexander Gordon, aged twenty-eight or twenty-nine, the brother of the Earl of Aberdeen ; in reality, both were young men similar in age and duty to Lord Hay.

Louis XIV was forced to negotiate ; he sent his foreign minister, the Marquis de Torcy, to meet the allied commanders at The Hague.

* May 10 – In New France, Governor Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville ends his final term ( multiple times over 43 years ) as Governor of colonial French Louisiana, which he helped colonize ; he is succeeded by the Marquis de Vaudreuil ( for the next 10 years ) and returns to France.

Though most of Provence, with the exception of Marseille, Aix and Avignon, was rural, conservative and largely royalist, it did produce some memorable figures in the French Revolution ; Honoré Gabriel Riqueti, comte de Mirabeau from Aix, who tried to moderate the Revolution, and turn France into a constitutional monarchy like England ; the Marquis de Sade from Lacoste in the Luberon, who was a Deputy from the far left in the National Assembly ; Charles Barbaroux from Marseille, who sent a battalion of volunteers to Paris to fight in the French Revolutionary Army ; and Emmanuel-Joseph Sieyès ( 1748 – 1836 ), an abbé, essayist and political leader, who was one of the chief theorists of the French Revolution, French Consulate, and First French Empire, and who, in 1799, was the instigator of the coup d ' état of 18 Brumaire, which brought Napoleon to power.

He speaks the following foreign languages ; Latin, very well ; French, German, Flemish, Italian, and Spanish ; Spanish as well as the Marquis, but he pronounces it more distinctly.

Hugh Gibson ; Maitre G. de Leval, the legal adviser to the United States legation ; and Marquis de Villalobar, the Spanish minister, formed a midnight deputation of appeal for mercy or at least postponement of sentence.
