The school has been highly influential in setting the agenda for historiography in France and numerous other countries, especially regarding the use of social scientific methods by historians, emphasizing social rather than political or diplomatic themes, and for being generally hostile to the class analysis of Marxist historiography.

Because of the strength of the Communist Party of China and the importance of the Marxist interpretation of history in legitimizing its rule, it was for many years difficult for historians within the PRC to actively argue in favor of non-Marxist and anti-Marxist interpretations of history.

While some anti-imperialist narratives notably those of historians within the People's Republic of China as well as Western Marxist histories incorporate anti-imperialist narratives in their histories, many anti-imperialist narratives are non-Marxist or as in the case of the Kuomintang in the 1960s, actively anti-Marxist.

It is an “ instrument of wholesale destruction, dependency and systematic exploitation producing distorted economies, socio-psychological disorientation, massive poverty and neocolonial dependency .” According to some Marxist historians, in all of the colonial countries ruled by Western European countries “ the natives were robbed of more than half their natural span of life by undernourishment ”.

Other historians, influenced by Marxist thinking, have emphasized the importance of the peasants and the urban workers in presenting the Revolution as a gigantic class struggle.

Nothing else produced by the British Marxist historians will endure as these books will.

That same year, he took part in a debate among many Marxist historians.

In 1946, Hill and many other Marxist historians formed the Communist Party Historians Group.

It was in the city that he also came across newly translated Marxist literature, further committing him to the revolutionary socialist cause: these included Thomas Kirkup's A History of Socialism, Karl Kautsky's Karl Marx's Ökonomische Lehren and most importantly, Marx and Engels ' political pamphlet, The Communist Manifesto.

As well as the matters covered in Zukofsky's essays, the elements of this approach included: a respect for Imagist achievement in the areas of vers libre and highly concentrated language and imagery ; a rejection of the Imagists ' interest in classicism and mythology ; for Reznikoff, Zukofsky, Rakosi and Oppen, a shared Jewish heritage ( which, for all but Oppen included an early childhood in which English was not their first language ); generally left-wing, and, in the cases of Zukofsky and Oppen at least, Marxist politics.

Arguments taken up by MI have included the Marxist attitude towards religion and what they view as " Australian imperialism " during the Pacific War.

These included the ecological determinism of Ellsworth Huntington ; biological racism, though only to the extent of seeing characteristics which grew out of ecology ; the economic geography and location theory ; and some aspects of Marxist modes of production and stages of history, especially through the influence of Karl August Wittfogel.

The German Marxist Karl Kautsky argued that the Red Terror was a form of terrorism, because it was indiscriminate, intended to frighten the civilian population, and included taking and executing hostages.

" Bill " Foster ( February 25, 1881 – September 1, 1961 ) was a radical American labor organizer and Marxist politician, whose career included a lengthy stint as General Secretary of the Communist Party USA.

His appointments during this period included teaching as an instructor in Soviet Marxist theory at the Chelyabninsk Pedogagical Institute and a position with the philosophical branch of the Academy of Social Sciences of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

They included a " national " state ( i. e. for the benefit of all social classes, rather than the existing " bourgeois " state or the Marxist proletarian state ) with a strong, authoritarian leader.

Another trend made up mainly of older former members of the Revolutionary Socialist League ( RSL ) who argued for an anarchist politics focused on the working class, in opposition to two other factions, both which focused on race: one which wanted to make " white skin privilege " the central concern ; the other of which focused more broadly on what some would call a Third World Marxist program which included an endorsement of nationalism by non-white racial groups, combined with a focus on gender and sexuality.

For example, Marxist theory regards the " imputed rental value of owner-occupied housing " which is included in GDP as a fictitious entry ; if the housing is owner-occupied, this housing cannot also yield real income from its market-based rental value at the same time.

In addition to Massemba-Debat's Marxist " Congo-Brazzaville " People's Republic, these supporters included: Ahmed Ben Bella in newly independent Algeria, Gamal Abdel Nasser in Egypt, and Julius Nyerere in the neighboring socialist nation of Tanzania, among others.
