There are five separate U. S. installations: Shipton Kaserne, home to 412th Aviation Support Battalion, Katterbach Kaserne, formally the home of the 1st Infantry Division's 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, which has been replaced by the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade as of 2006, as part of the 1st Infantry Division's return to Fort Riley, Kansas ; Bismarck Kaserne, which functions as a satellite post to Katterbach, hosting their Post Exchange, Theater, Barracks, Franconia Inn, Military Police, and other support agencies, Barton Barracks, home to the USAG Ansbach and Bleidorn Barracks, which has a library and housing.

The Military Police ( state police ) alongside the Military Firefighters Corps are described as an ancillary and reserve force of the Army.

It became part of the Military Tract, when, in 1781, more than 1¼ million acres ( 5, 100 km² ) were set aside by the State's Legislature to compensate two regiments formed to protect the State's western section from the English and their Iroquois allies, at the close of the Revolution.

This specialisation was formalised prior to 1914 and the beginning of World War I, with the two sections undergoing a number of administrative changes and the home section becoming Directorate of Military Intelligence Section 5 ( MI5 ), the name by which it is known in popular culture to this very day.

Following the abolishment of the Theiß-Muresch section of the Habsburg Military Frontier ( in 1750 ) and the abolishment of the Principality of Transylvania ( in 1867 ), the whole area was included into the Habsburg Kingdom of Hungary, which after 1867 became one of two autonomous parts of dual monarchy of Austria-Hungary.

Camp Cropper was established by the Headquarters and Headquarters Company ( HHC ) of the 115th Military Police Battalion in April 2003.

The 115th Infantry has long claimed lineage and honors that have not been recognized by the U. S. Army Center of Military history.
