Wells graduated from Detroit's Northwestern High School at the age of 17 and set her sights on becoming a scientist, but after hearing about the success of Detroit musicians such as Jackie Wilson and The Miracles, she decided to try her hand at music as a singer-songwriter.

The Miracles had modest success with their next few singles, including " Ain't It Baby ", " Mighty Good Lovin '", " Brokenhearted " and " Everybody's Gotta Pay Some Dues ", as 1961 continued.

He had some success as a solo artist, notably in 1972 with " Say You Don't Mind " ( peaked at number 15 in the UK chart and written by future Wings member Denny Laine ) and " I Don't Believe In Miracles " ( peaked at number 31 in the UK chart and written by Argent member Russ Ballard ), both with string arrangements by Christopher Gunning.

Its success caused Miracles lead singer, songwriter, and producer Smokey Robinson, who had announced plans to leave the act, to stay until 1972.

Motown Records, at that particular time of this album's release was still fledgling with success just from The Miracles and Mary Wells.

Though artists like The Miracles and Mary Wells had R & B success, they hardly were noticed by pop audiences.

He left to oversee Miracles, but continued to work on Angel as a consulting producer for the final two seasons.

Due to constant changes in the music industry and Motown, however, by 1969, Smokey Robinson sought to leave the Miracles and the stage, to settle for continued work as Motown's vice president as well as become more of a family man to his wife and children.

On March 20, 2009, The Miracles were finally honored as a group with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Smokey was present with original Miracles members Bobby Rogers, Pete Moore, ( Bobby's cousin ) Claudette Rogers, and Gloria White, accepting for her husband, the late Ronnie White, whose daughter Pamela and granddaughter Maya were there representing him as well.

The band's Wooden Nickel recordings Styx ( 1972 ), Styx II ( 1973 ), The Serpent Is Rising ( 1973 ), and Man of Miracles ( 1974 ) were a mixture of straight-ahead rock with some dramatic prog-rock flourishes and art-rock aspirations.

The St Martins church gained some local fame as a centre of pilgrimage revolving around a miracle connected with the miraculous blossoming of a tree in which a Host had been hidden and the equally miraculous appearance of a cross – the Miracles of the Holy Cross.

During their tenure, the Miracles were awarded several times for their songwriting work from both the BMI and ASCAP songwriting organizations.

White was also known to bring Stevie Wonder to the attention of Motown Records and was also a songwriter of several hit singles for the Miracles and other artists including The Temptations and Mary Wells.

White helped Robinson compose several hit singles including The Miracles ' " My Girl Has Gone " and " A Fork in the Road " and is known as the co-writer and co-producer of The Temptations ' signature song, " My Girl " and also co-wrote the same group's " Don't Look Back ".

Besides his work in The Miracles, Moore is also notable for having helped Miracles member Smokey Robinson write several hit songs, including The Temptations ' " It's Growing " and " Since I Lost My Baby ", and two of Marvin Gaye's biggest hits, the Top 10 million sellers ," Ain't That Peculiar ", and " I'll Be Doggone ".

Moore also co-wrote several of The Miracles ' own hits.

Moore also sung co-lead on a few recordings as well, such as " I Love Your Baby " and the groups ' Billboard Top 40 hit " Doggone Right ". Pete is also an accomplished producer, having produced several hit songs, including The Miracles ' 1965 R & B chart hit, Choosey Beggar, their 1969 hit, Here I Go Again, the group's million-selling Top 10 hit, Baby Baby Don't Cry ( also 1969 ), and the aforementioned City Of Angels album, along with albums by Marvin Gaye, and The Supremes.
