Vickers Armstrong also developed a SPAGG based on the chassis of the Mk. E 6-ton light tank / Dragon Medium Mark IV tractor, mounting a Vickers QF-1 " Pom-Pom " gun of 40 mm.

The Ford GT40 is a high performance British-American sports car and winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans four consecutive times, from 1966 to 1969 ( 1966 being the Mk II, 1967 the Mk IV, and 1968-1969 the oldest chassis design, the Mk I ).

In addition to that, the Mk IV became in 1967 so far the only racecar built entirely in the United States to win overall at Le Mans, whilst in the previous year Ford won with a British-built chassis and only an engine came from America.

Miles died in a testing accident in the J-car ( later to become the Mk IV ) at Riverside ( CA ) Raceway just two months later.

The team embarked on a complete redesign of the car, which became known as the Mk IV.

Therefore a more conventional but significantly more aerodynamic body was designed for the subsequent development of the J-car which was officially known as the GT40 Mk IV.

The Mk IV was built around a reinforced J chassis powered by the same 7. 0 L engine as the Mk II.

Excluding the engine, the Mk IV was totally different from other GT40s, using a specific chassis and specific bodywork.

Dan Gurney often complained about the weight of the Mk IV, since the car was heavier than the Ferraris he raced.

Designs included the. 303 " Mk III, IV & V and the. 455 " Mk III " Manstopper " cartridges.

Vast numbers of ex-military SMLE Mk III rifles were sporterised post-WWII to create cheap, effective hunting rifles, and the Lee-Enfield bolt system is used in the M10 and No 4 Mk IV rifles manufactured by Australian International Arms.

The Pinto overhead cam units used in the Mk. III onwards, as well as being fitted to contemporary Capris, Granadas and Transits, were carried over to the Sierra for its first few years of production, before gradually being phased out by the newer CVH and DOHC units.

The UK tax system meant that sales to company car fleets comprised a larger proportion of the overall market-especially for middle-weight saloons-than elsewhere in Europe: the Ford Cortina Mk II had been replaced by the Ford Cortina Mk III in 1970, but in the eyes of the all important company car fleet managers the newer Cortina never quite matched the earlier car for reliability, notably in respect of problems with its cable clutch and with camshaft wear in the 1. 6 and 2. 0 litre ohc units.

Compared to the U. S. Mk 40 Mighty Mouse rockets the CRV7 replaced, the higher energy fuel and newer fuselage design led to a longer and much flatter trajectory, with twice the energy on impact.

The newer load was designated Mk 262 Mod 1.

This targeted existing cars like the aging Ford GT40 Mk. I and the newer Lola T70 coupe.

However shortly after the Torpedo entered service it became apparent that newer Soviet submarines were both faster and deeper diving, and could potentially both outrun and out-dive the Mk. 44 which was designed to attack targets with a maximum speed of only 17 knots.

Latimer-Needham and Cockerell devised a 4 foot ( 1. 22 m ) high skirt design which was fitted to the SR. N1 to produce the Mk V, displaying hugely improved performance, with the ability to climb over obstacles almost as high as the skirt.

The Ford Taunus TC series was conceived in the late 1960s to be a " world car " alongside its technical sibling the Cortina Mk III, with construction and design work taking place on both sides of the Atlantic.

Mk 41 VLS adopts a modular design concept, which result in different versions that vary in size and weight.

The design was based on the A7 ( which had started development in 1929 ) rather than on the Infantry Tank Mk I, which was a two-man tank with a single machine gun for armament.

The basic suspension design, which contributed much to the Mk 1's success, has been carried over largely unchanged from its predecessor which, along with a 10 % stiffer bodyshell, offers a better ride according to Ford but lacked on the precise and poised handling of the Mk1.

Stylistically, the Mk 2's styling features the same design language found in the Mondeo and Fiesta.

The Mk 2 could be collapsed but along its 15 ft length ... to just c. 7 inches This mk 2 and its three man Mk 2 ** were all of the same design and were designed by the same man-a Mr Fred Goatley.

This design, called MK II **, was a transitional step between Mk II and Mk III actions.

The CDW27 project turned out not to be a true world car in the sense that the original Ford Focus, the Mk V Mondeo ( known in the US as the 2013 Ford Fusion ) and the Mk VI Ford Fiesta would later be, one design for the world.

In addition to the slightly larger caliber, Italian ordnance designers introduced a spitzer-type bullet for the new cartridge, with the tip filled with aluminum to produce an unstable ( tumbling ) projectile upon impact in soft tissue ( a design most likely copied from the. 303 British Mk VII bullet ).

The second major improvement in the Churchill's design, the Mk VII saw first used in the Battle of Normandy in 1944.

Its armour was weaker than the Infantry Tank Mk II " Matilda " but, due to a lower powered engine, the lighter tank had the same top speed ; however, the new design was easier to produce and much less expensive.

To this end the A13 Mk III cruiser tank design which would enter service as the " Tank, Cruiser Mk V " and known in service as " Covenanter " was designed.

As with aircraft management, the bigger sensor platforms ( like the E ‑ 3D, JSTARS, ASTOR, Nimrod MRA4, Merlin HM Mk 1 ) have mission-management computers.

About 26 were sold to Siam and saw action as Infantry support guns and AA guns during the Franco-Thai war ( 1940-1941 ) along with 30 Vickers Mk. E Type B 6-ton tanks.

Later the British also developed a version of the Mk. VI light tank armed with 4 machine guns that was known as Light Tank AA Mk. I.

Ships with the Mk 26 GMLS, and late marks of the Mk 10 GMLS aboard the " Belknap "- class, could accommodate ASROC in these power-loaded launchers ( the Mk 13 GMLS was not able to fire the weapon, as the launcher rail was too short ).

Other US ships with the Mk 41 can also accommodate VL-ASROC.

A replacement for Blue Steel, the Mark 2, was planned with increased range and a ramjet engine, but was cancelled in 1960 to minimise delays to the Mk. 1.

The agreement with Broadley included a one-year collaboration between Ford and Broadley, and the sale of the two Lola Mk 6 chassis built to Ford.

The experience gained in 1964 and 1965 allowed the 7-litre Mk II to dominate the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1966 with a 1-2-3 result.

It was later upgraded to Mk II specifications with a 7. 0 liter ( 427ci ) engine and a standard four ratio Kar Kraft gearbox, however the car kept specific features such as its open roof and lightweight chassis.

For Daytona 1967, two Mk II models ( chassis 1016 and 1047 ) were fitted with Mercury 7. 0 liter engines.

A total of nine cars were constructed with J-car chassis numbers although six were designated as Mk IVs and one as the G7A.

The installation of the roll cage was ultimately credited by many with saving the life of Mario Andretti, who crashed violently in a Mk.

However, the sulfur content of traditional gunpowders caused corrosion problems with Cordite Mk I and this led to the introduction of a range of sulfur-free gunpowders, of varying grain sizes.

The chase scene featured Lola T70 Mk. IIIs with dummy turbine engines racing against Yamaha TA125 / 250cc 2-stroke race replica motorcycles through two San Francisco Bay Area automotive tunnels: the Caldecott Tunnel between Oakland and Orinda, and the underwater Posey Tube between Oakland and Alameda.

The Vulcan and Victor were armed with British-built bombs Blue Danube, Red Beard, Violet Club the Interim Megaton Weapon and Yellow Sun of both versions, the Mk1 and Mk. 2.

This vehicle is fitted with a Halon fire suppression system and a weapons mount similar to that on the M109 turret, usually mounting a Mk 19 grenade launcher for local defense against infantry and light armored vehicles.

The UK also supplied extensive material assistance to US forces stationed in Europe, for example the USAAF was supplied with hundreds of Spitfire Mk V and Mk VIII fighter aircraft.
