The Morehouse Elementary School is part of the Sikeston school system.

The church joined with Morehouse College to launch Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School Leadership Academy.

Morehouse Parish School Board operates local public schools.

There are two high schools: Bastrop High School, under the Morehouse Parish public system, and Prairie View Academy, a private school serving grades 1 – 12.

The Institute for Natural Medicine and Prevention ( INMP ) ( formerly the Center for Natural Medicine and Prevention ) collaborates with a consortium of medical centers including the University of Iowa College of Medicine in Iowa City, Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

In 1996, Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, the state of Georgia and the mayor of Atlanta recognized the late Henrietta Lacks ' family for her posthumous contributions to medicine and health research.

In May 2010, The Virginian-Pilot published two articles on Lacks, HeLa, and her family, which mentions that the Morehouse School of Medicine has donated the money for Henrietta's grave as well as her daughter Elsie, who died in 1955, to finally have headstones.

Along with Clark Atlanta University, Interdenominational Theological Center, Morehouse School of Medicine and nearby women's college Spelman College, Morehouse is part of the Atlanta University Center.

Merrill was the father of educator and philanthropist Charles E. Merrill Jr. ( b. 1920 ) ( author and founder of the Thomas Jefferson School, Commonwealth School, and former chairman of the board of trustees of Morehouse College ); San Francisco philanthropist Doris Merrill Magowan ( 1914 – 2001 ); and poet James Ingram Merrill ( 1926 – 1995 ).

He served as the Secretary of the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services under President George H. W. Bush and founded the Morehouse School of Medicine.

He, along with other Morehouse alumni, spearheaded the formation of Morehouse School of Medicine.

After attending Morristown High School, he attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia for two years but graduated from Syracuse University's College of Arts and Sciences with a double degree in History and African-American studies in 1993.

In 1996 he received an honorary doctorate from the Morehouse College School of Medicine.

He attended Eaglebrook School and graduated from George School, in Newtown, Pennsylvania, and Morehouse College, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Since then, Fowler has joined the law firm of Powell, Goldstein, Frazer, and Murphy and several corporate and academic boards, including those of the Carter Center at Emory University and the Morehouse School of Medicine.

Donnell graduated from Maryville High School ( Missouri ) in 1900 and where his father was once mayor ironically living in the same home as Albert Morehouse who had also been governor.

Morehouse was formed from part of the Town of Lake Pleasant in 1835.

Benjamin Mays, Sixth President of Morehouse College and mentor to Martin Luther King, Jr., was born in the vicinity of Ninety Six.

A $ 20 million performing arts center at Morehouse College was named after Charles and was dedicated in September 2010.
