Cultural events are also hosted by the Ammochostos Gate Cultural Centre, the Municipal Arts Centre, the Municipal Centre of Contemporary Social and Cultural Services and others.

The London Borough of Hillingdon's Civic Centre was built in Uxbridge High Street in 1973, as part of an effort to unite the services of the council, which had formed in 1965 with the merger of the Municipal Borough of Uxbridge, Ruislip-Northwood Urban District, Hayes and Harlington Urban District and Yiewsley and West Drayton Urban District.

October 2006 saw the opening of the town's first dedicated Municipal Art Gallery and visual arts centre, the Highlanes Gallery, housed in the former Franciscan Friary on St. Laurence Street.

The city government, originally housed in the old Municipal Building on Collier Street ( now the Grand Royale Hotel ), is now based at the Binghamton City Hall which occupies the west-wing of Government Plaza on the corner of State and Hawley streets.

The area north of the High Street and Hampstead Lane was part of Hornsey parish and also later the Municipal Borough of Hornsey and the seat of that borough's governing body for many years.

Since the Municipal Borough of Hornsey was abolished in 1965, the name may refer either to the N8 postal district which includes Crouch End and part of Harringay, or to an area centred around Hornsey High Street, at the eastern end of which is the churchyard and tower of the former parish church which used to be the administrative centre of Hornsey ( parish ).

Irving Park Road between Interstate 290 and First Street is also a commercial corridor, as well as the home of the town's Municipal Campus ( library, museum, pool, fire station, and police station / village hall ).

In mid-2006, the Village of Huntley completed a new Municipal Complex to serve the needs of the growing Village, as the former Village Hall in the center of town on Coral Street had become too cramped, out-dated, and disconnected from other Village buildings.

Originally held on Macomb Street, the annual " Islandfest " ( formerly " Azalea Festival ") takes place around Grosse Ile Municipal Airport.

In 1968 the current City Hall was built at 903 W. Main Street as the Blue Springs Municipal Building.

The Blue Springs Municipal Building held the Blue Springs Police Department in the lower level and city hall functions on the main level until 1988 when the Police Department moved to a new police station at 1100 SW Smith Street.

Every year the central business district ( with corners at the Municipal Building, Grand Street Fire House and Croton-Harmon High School ) is closed to automobile traffic for music, American food, local fund raisers, traveling, and local artists.

Today it is a historic and picturesque area defined by Main Street and Mill Street, which run as BUS 23 through the middle of the downtown area, as well as by Cowan Street, on the lower part of Kings Mountain, and Municipal Drive, at the base of College Hill, both of which define the southern and northern borders of the central downtown area.

The intersection of Chipper Curve Road, BUS 23 / East Main Street, and Municipal Drive as well as Keener Street define the eastern and western boundaries of the central business district.

Harris Building ( 1902 ), First Citizens Bank ( 1928 ), Sylva Fire Department ( 1980 ), all on Main Street, Roscoe Poteet Public Pool ( 1969 ) on Municipal Drive, the Hooper House ( 1906 ), the last remaining historic home on Main Street, and the Sylva First United Methodist Church ( 1917 ) on Jackson Street.

There it took a sharp west turn to the river at the present intersection of Market Street and North Monument Avenue, between the former Hamilton Municipal Building and the present Courtyard by Marriott.

Police headquarters is located in the Municipal Building at 1611 Main Street, in the Borough.

The current Fire Department is located at 1611 Main Street, adjacent to the Municipal Building.

Municipal reforms, civil service reform, corrupt practices acts, and presidential primaries to replace the power of politicians at national conventions had all helped to clean up politics.

A number of further acts of parliament amended the 1835 legislation, all of which were repealed and replaced by the Municipal Corporations Act 1882.

Municipal authorities also kept a register of their official acts.

During World War II, the Galveston Municipal Airport, predecessor to Scholes International Airport, was re-designated a U. S. Army Air Corps base and named " Galveston Army Air Field ".

Marianna Municipal Airport, a former World War II Army Air Corps base, is a public-use airport located northeast of the central business district.

After the war, ownership of the base was transferred to the City of Great Bend which repurposed it for civilian use as Great Bend Municipal Airport.

The Malden Municipal Airport was an Army airfield and then an Air Force base from 1942 to 1960, as operated by the military and then under civilian contracts.

The base was informally known as East Base since the 7th Ferrying Group was stationed at Great Falls Municipal Airport on Gore Hill ( known as Gore Field during its military use ).

Peterson Air Force Base is a base of the United States Air Force located at Colorado Springs in El Paso County, Colorado, United States and it shares runways with the adjacent City of Colorado Springs Municipal Airport under a shared joint civil-military airport arrangement.

The base was known by various names, including Kinross Municipal Airport, Kinross Army Air Field, Kinross Air Field, Kinross Air Force Auxiliary Field, and Kinross Air Force Base.

Conveyed to local civilian authorities, the Madison Municipal Airport also became the home of the Wisconsin Air National Guard and its present day 115th Fighter Wing ( 115 FW ), an Air National Guard fighter wing operationally-gained by the Air Combat Command ( ACC ) and which still operates from the base, flying the F-16 Fighting Falcon.

On 30 August 1940, the United States Army Air Corps received approval to build a base at Hunter Municipal Airifeld.

The château was owned by the Orléans family until the French Revolution, was a base for German troops during World War II, and currently houses the Municipal Museum.

Since construction of the new stadium the Dawg Pound is populated with more affluent attendees compared to the generally blue collar fan base that made the Municipal Stadium's Dawg Pound famous.
