Bonnat's vivid portrait-painting of contemporary celebrities is his most characteristic work, but his most important works are arguably his powerful religious paintings, such as his Christ on the Cross ( now in the collection of the Musée du Petit Palais in Paris, but not currently on display ), Job ( in the Musée Bonnat ), St Vincent Taking the Place of Two Galley Slaves ( at the church of Saint-Nicholas des Champs in Paris ), and the large Martyrdom of St Denis for the Pantheon in Paris.

In a gesture of gratitude for the help he had been provided in his youth, Bonnat built a museum in his native city of Bayonne, the Musée Bonnat.

In 1989, Struth began work on his best-known cycle, Museum Photographs, devoted to the visitors to some of the world's great museums and buildings, including The Art Institute of Chicago, the Musée du Louvre in Paris, the Accademia in Venice, and the Pantheon in Rome.

His most noted work was an installation which began in his Brussels house which he called Musée d ' Art Moderne, Départment des Aigles ( 1968 ).

Louboutin claims his fascination with shoes began in 1976 when he visited the Musée national des Arts d ' Afrique et d ' Océanie on the avenue Daumesnil.

Les Champs Libres is a building on Esplanade Charles de Gaulle designed by the architect Christian de Portzamparc that houses the Brittany Museum ( Musée de Bretagne ), regional library Bibliothèque de Rennes Métropole on six levels and an Espace des Sciences science centre with a planetarium.
