The town is linked to Dublin by the M11 / N11 National Primary Route, and the national rail network.

The other primary routes served are the N2 to Derry / Monaghan, N3 to Navan / Cavan / Northwest, N4 / M4 to Galway / Sligo, N7 / M7 ( M8 ) to Cork / Limerick / Waterford, and the N11 / M11 to Wexford.

the N11 / M11 is of dual carriageway or motorway standard from Dublin as far as Rathnew in County Wicklow, with a further section of motorway bypassing Arklow and Gorey.

Then the Cabinteely Bypass and part of the Bray Road bring the N11 via Loughlinstown and Shanganagh to north of Shankill, where the M11 motorway commences as the Bray / Shankill Bypass.

After Glen of the Downs the N11 / M11 continues south to bypass Kilpedder, Newtownmountkennedy, Ashford and Rathnew.

Major improvements are also being made to many other national primary and national secondary routes, most notably the Atlantic Corridor routes ( N15, N17, N18, N20, N24, N25 ) and the N11 / M11 ( Dublin-Wexford ).

Only non-geographic area codes, such as toll-free 800 / 888 / 877 / 866 / 855 numbers and 900 numbers may use N11 as the telephone exchange prefix, since the area code must always be dialed for these numbers.

The N11 / M11 is also receiving upgrades along with the new controversial 47 km M3 motorway.

Gorey's position on the N11 / M11-a direct link to the capital-has made it an attractive choice for commuters, many of whom spend less time travelling to work than their counterparts living in particular areas of Dublin.

Traffic proceeding north on the M11 is given a choice to stay on the main carriageway ( which becomes the M50 ), or take the exit at what is junction 17 on the M50, in order to stay on the M11, following the N11 into the city centre.

Blackrock covers a large but not precisely defined area, rising from sea level on the coast to at White's Cross on the N11 national primary road.
