The Nagarathars ( Tamil: நகரத ் த ா ர ் ச ெ ட ் ட ி ய ா ர ்) is a Chettiar forward caste community in Shaivism ( Tamil: ச ை வ சமயம ்) that originated in Kaveripoompattinam under the Chola kingdom of India.
