Titles have appeared in the form of multiple television series and OVAs, movies, manga, novels and video games, among other modes.
Most producers of OVAs release them direct-to-video, without prior showings on television or in theatres ; however, there may be very rare occasions where, for example, the first part of an OVA series is broadcast for promotional purposes.

Retcon redesigns were featured in the OVAs Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket and Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, although these redesigns have since been designated as separate models.
The original Getter Robo series, however, has yet to appear in the US ( although the Shin Getter Robo OVAs have appeared ).
