The Orange Public Library collection contains 150, 000 volumes and circulates 56, 000 items annually.

It thereupon became " The South Orange Public Library.

South Orange provides the usual facilities for a municipality of this size ; fire, police, a library of over 90, 000 volumes, a municipal pool, a recreation center, parks, baseball diamonds, tennis courts, trash and yard waste removal provided by contractors, Public, educational, and government access ( PEG ) cable TV, among others.

Warwick was born in East Orange, New Jersey, to Mancel Warwick ( 1911 – 1977 ), who began his career as a Pullman porter and subsequently became a chef, a gospel record promoter for Chess Records and later a Certified Public Accountant ; and Lee Drinkard Warwick ( 1920 – 2005 ), manager of The Drinkard Singers ( see below ).

Transportation to the lake and the hamlet was difficult until 1895, when trolley service was established between the City of Newburgh and the Village of Walden, and Orange Lake, approximately the half way point, became a popular stop.

Passaic County called for a divided highway was called for to bypass Skyline Drive, and in 1967 the New Jersey Department of Transportation proposed a Route 208 freeway through the Ramapo Mountains that would run from Oakland to the New York border in Greenwood Lake, where it would connect to a proposed NY 208 freeway ( called the Orange Expressway ) that would continue north to Interstate 84 in Maybrook, New York.

Public transportation is available from the Orange County Transportation Authority ( OCTA ) and Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority ( Metro ) adjacent the east end of the property, along Harbor Boulevard.

It carries buses operated by Metro, Orange County Transportation Authority, LADOT, Gardena Municipal Bus Lines and Torrance Transit.

The MTA has the responsibility for developing and implementing a unified mass transportation policy for the New York metropolitan area, including all five boroughs of New York City and the suburban counties of Dutchess, Nassau, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Suffolk and Westchester, all of which together are the " Metropolitan Commuter Transportation District ( MCTD )".

The Research Triangle Regional Public Transportation Authority which is known by the name Triangle Transit ( formerly Triangle Transit Authority or TTA ) provides regional bus service to The Triangle region of North Carolina in the counties of Wake, Durham and Orange.

In April, 2002, the Orange County Transportation Authority ( OCTA ) reached an agreement in concept to purchase the private toll road project for $ 207. 5 million.

Between 1996 and 2002, the fifth lane in both directions was constructed between I-5 and SR 91, funded with a sales tax of half a cent approved by Measure M. In April 2007, the Orange County Transportation Authority approved funds to study the feasibility of extending the Costa Mesa Freeway south to 17th Street via tunnels or flyover ramps.

The Orange Line is one of the four subway lines of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.

The Eastern Transportation Corridor, which includes SR 133 north of I-5, was completed on October 15, 1998, opening a new shortcut from Orange County to the northeast.

In April 2009, the Orange County Transportation Authority continued to study the extension of SR 57, where the freeway would travel along the Santa Ana River and terminate at I-405 in Fountain Valley.

The Orange County Transportation Authority is currently studying a proposal to add a HOT lane between Highway 73 in Costa Mesa and I-605 in Seal Beach.

A transit police force may consist of officers employed directly by a transit system, such as the Amtrak Police, or it may exist as a specialized unit of a local police force, such as the Transit Police Services Bureau of the Orange County, California Sheriff's Department, which serves the Orange County Transportation Authority or South Coast British Columbia Transportation Authority Police Service which serves the transit system of southern British Columbia, Canada.
