The New England National Park adjoins the Cunnawarra National Park on the north-eastern boundary and the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park joins it on the southern corner.

Oxley Wild Rivers National Park is in New South Wales, Australia, 445 kilometres north of Sydney and is named in memory of the Australian explorer John Oxley, who passed through the area in 1818.

The Oxley Highway crosses the park south of Werrikimbe National Park.

John Oxley was the first European to explore the river who named it after the Governor of New South Wales, Thomas Brisbane in 1823.
