Three plays later, Edgar Bennett's touchdown run increased the Packers lead to 21-0.

From their first season the Cowboys have had a powerful rivalry with the Packers.

Their fellow second-year NFC expansion team, the Carolina Panthers, also got to their conference championship game, where they lost 30 – 13 to the eventual Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers.

The Vikings were 11 – 2 after 14 weeks, but slumped briefly, losing their last three to the Rams, Packers and Colts while starting quarterback Daunte Culpepper was hampered by injury.

In the wild card game, the Vikings defeated the rival Green Bay Packers in their first-ever playoff meeting, 31 – 17.

The Vikings then went on to face their other divisional rival the Chicago Bears, but were defeated, and then went on to be blown out 31 – 3 in a rematch with the Packers the following game.

The Saints began their season with a loss against the Green Bay Packers, but the team rebounded for the next four weeks to bring their record to 4-1.

On May 2, 2012 it was announced that four players who played for the team between 2009 and 2011 would receive suspensions for their alleged participation in " Bountygate ": Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma ( 16 games ), Saints defensive lineman Will Smith ( 4 games ), former Saints / current Browns linebacker Scott Fujita ( 3 games ), and former Saints / current Packers defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove ( 8 games ).

Later in the period, the Packers had the ball on their own 38-yard line and they made a big play with a play action pass.

The score seemed to fire up the Raiders ' defense, and they forced the Packers to punt on their next drive.

The Redskins were making their first Super Bowl appearance after posting an 11-3 regular season record and playoff victories over the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys.

Meanwhile, the Redskins advanced to the Super Bowl without allowing a touchdown in either their 16-3 playoff win over the Green Bay Packers or their 26-3 NFC Championship Game victory over the Cowboys.

Taking advantage of their excellent starting field position, New England drove 53 yards in 7 plays and scored on an 18-yard touchdown run by Martin to cut the Packers ' lead to 27-21.

Favre then completed a pass to tight end Mark Chmura for the successful two-point conversion, giving the Packers a 35-21 lead.

Green Bay's Brett Favre was also having one of the best seasons of his career and would eventually lead the resurgent Packers to the NFC Championship Game.

The Panthers jumped out to an early 10-7 lead before the Packers ' offensive juggernaut took over, and the Panthers lost 30-13.

In a seesaw battle that had seen eight lead changes, the Panthers found themselves at the Packers ' 5-yard line on a 4th-and-goal play, trailing 31-26 with five seconds remaining in the game.

Although the Panthers held a commanding 31-0 lead early in the 4th quarter after four touchdown passes by Beuerlein-tying his team record set only two weeks prior-they saw that the Packers ( who also knew they needed to score as many points as possible to stay ahead of the Panthers ) had pulled out to a 35-10 lead of their own.

Two plays later, Favre's 23-yard completion to Donald Driver set up Longwell's 27-yard field goal with 41 seconds left in the half, giving the Packers a 13-6 lead.

Green finished the drive with another 1-yard touchdown run, and Longwell's extra point gave the Packers a 27-20 lead with 2: 39 left in regulation.

Then on the Packers next drive, Atlanta linebacker Mark Simoneau blocked Josh Bidwell's punt and Artie Ulmer recovered it in the end zone for a touchdown to increase their lead to 14-0.

Favre completed 6 of 8 passes for 43 yards in the first half, including a 5-yard touchdown pass to Antonio Freeman that gave the Packers a 6-0 lead after San Francisco lineman Dana Stubblefield blocked the extra point.

After a San Francisco punt, Favre led his team to the end zone in just three plays, tossing a 12-yard completion to fullback William Henderson, following it up with a 51-yard strike to Corey Bradford, and then finishing the drive with a 19-yard touchdown pass to Bubba Franks with 3: 26 left in the third quarter, giving the Packers a 15-7 lead after the 49ers defense tackled Donald Driver short of the end zone on a two-point conversion attempt.

The Packers generated most of their offense early in the contest, but the turnovers gave the Rams a 24-10 halftime lead.

Quarterback Brett Favre would then find wide receiver Antonio Freeman slicing across the middle on a slant for a 29-yard touchdown to give the Packers a 10-0 lead.

The Packers defense forced five turnovers en route to victory, while Desmond Howard's key punt returns enabled the Packers to jump to a 14-0 lead after only 3 offensive plays.

However, Packers wide receiver Antonio Freeman returned a punt 76 yards for a touchdown, and Green Bay extended their lead to 20-10 ( after the two-point conversion attempt failed ).

In the closing minutes of the first half, the Packers marched 85-yards to score on Favre's 2-yard touchdown to tight end Mark Chmura to reach a 27-10 halftime lead.
