Al-Nuwayri in his Nihaya reports that the Prophet is alleged to have said what he feared most for his community were the practices of the people of Lot ( although he seems to have expressed the same idea in regard to wine and female seduction ).

In year 20 of the Muslim era, or the year 641 AD, Muhammad's successor the Caliph ' Umar decreed that Jews and Christians should be removed from all but the southern and eastern fringes of Arabia — a decree based on the ( sometimes disputed ) uttering of the Prophet: " Let there not be two religions in Arabia ".

In it, the author claimed that there was no proof that Smith made any attempt to translate the plates: " There is no evidence that the Prophet Joseph Smith ever took up the matter with the Lord, as he did when working with the Book of Mormon and the Book of Abraham ".

Section 295C of Pakistan's Penal Code says " whoever by the words, either spoken or written, or by visible representation, or by any imputation, innuendo, or insinuation, directly or indirectly, defiles the sacred name of the Holy Prophet Muhammad shall be punished with the death sentence or imprisonment for life and shall be liable to fine.

In the Muslim Arab world the more generally traditional meaning of mutawwa is " pious man " and generally refers to any Muslim man who " volunteers " to adopt all the orthodoxies of Islam, including the non-compulsory ones such as praying superogatory ( sunnah, referring to the non-binding practises of Prophet Muhammad ) prayers ( salat ) or giving more charity ( sadaqah in addition to the mandatory zakat ).

On 3 December 2005 Minhaj-ul-Quran established a full-time institution called Gosha-e-Durood where any individual can apply to sit for reciting salutations on the Prophet Muhammad.
