Stephen and Timothy Quay ( ; born June 17, 1947 ) are American identical twin brothers better known as the Brothers Quay or Quay Brothers.

The Quay Brothers reside and work in England, having moved there in 1969 to study at the Royal College of Art, London after studying illustration at the Philadelphia College of Art, now the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

The Quay Brothers ' works ( 1979 – present ) show a wide range of often esoteric influences, starting with the Polish animators Walerian Borowczyk and Jan Lenica and continuing with the writers Franz Kafka, Bruno Schulz, Robert Walser and Michel de Ghelderode, puppeteers Wladyslaw Starewicz and Richard Teschner and composers Leoš Janáček, Zdeněk Liška and Leszek Jankowski, the last of whom has created many original scores for their work.

The critical success of Street of Crocodiles gave the Quay Brothers artistic freedom to explore a shift in subject matter, in part originating in literary and poetic sources that led to exploration of new aesthetic forms, but also because they were able to make extensive experiments in technique, both with cameras and on large stage sets.

The Brothers Quay were commissioned by Leeds Canvas, a group of eight cultural organisations in Leeds, UK, to create in May 2012 a major city-wide art installation, OverWorlds & UnderWorlds.

He is a self-labeled surrealist known for his surreal animations and features, which have greatly influenced other artists such as Terry Gilliam, the Brothers Quay, and many others.

Jean-Luc Godard, in La Chinoise ( 1967 ), Nicolas Roeg in Walkabout ( 1971 ), and the Brothers Quay in In Absentia ( 2000 ) used music by Karlheinz Stockhausen.

One biography concerns two people-the twin brothers Ipson and Pulat Fallari, who are played ( in still photographs ) by the Brothers Quay.

Films distributed by Zeitgeist are strongly auteur-driven by directors such as Christopher Nolan, Guy Maddin, Atom Egoyan, Todd Haynes, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Abbas Kiarostami, Deepa Mehta, Jan Švankmajer and the Brothers Quay.

This adaptation by David Thomas of Alfred Jarry's play Ubu Roi was accompanied by animations by the Brothers Quay.

The film also includes scenes based on the work of other late 20th century artists, including Odd Nerdrum, H. R. Giger, and the Brothers Quay.

In 2003, the Quay Brothers directed a short animated film in tribute to the collection entitled The Phantom Museum.

The video bears a strong resemblance to the work of the Brothers Quay, however they were not involved with its creation.

Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain called the " Sober " video a rip-off of the Brothers Quay " and stated Tool should be sued for this.

Council meetings occur at Dublin City Hall, while most of its administrative activities are based in the Civic Offices on Wood Quay.

The nearest Docklands Light Railway stations are All Saints, Blackwall, East India, Langdon Park, Poplar and West India Quay.

Near the Martello Tower at Slaughden Quay are the barely visible remains of the fishing smack Ionia.

Anderson B. Quay House are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

There are further bridges at Barn Road, Anchor Quay, Duke Street and St. Georges Street.

Normal scheduled departures from Chester Station are: multiple services on the North Wales Coast Line ; Virgin Trains to London Euston via Crewe ; Arriva Trains Wales to Manchester Piccadilly via Warrington Bank Quay and Cardiff Central / Birmingham New Street via Wrexham General ; Northern Rail to Manchester Piccadilly via Northwich ; Merseyrail to Liverpool on the Wirral Line.

There are also infrequent services by Northern Rail between Ellesmere Port and Liverpool Lime Street via Warrington Bank Quay.

Between Warrington ( Bank Quay ), Earlestown and Manchester Piccadilly, there are additional services ( at least one per hour ) operated by Arriva Trains Wales, which originate from Chester and the North Wales Coast Line.

Most Dublin City Council staff are located in the relatively new and controversial Civic Offices, built from 1979 on the site of a national monument, the Viking city foundations on Wood Quay.

The new studios are located in Quay House over a single floor and consists of two studios, large enough for several guests, and a separate studio for large groups.

Felling, Heworth, Pelaw and Bill Quay, in a separate ONS urban sub-division and not part of the historical County Borough, are sometimes considered to be within the town of Gateshead due to their closeness to the town centre and because they are in the same contiguous urban area.

Mainline services are available from Warrington Bank Quay and Warrington Central ( 2 – 3 miles away ).

Coastal trading vessels are also frequent visitors, unloading various cargos on the quaysides at Hamworthy, and fleet of fishing vessels operates from the south end of Poole Quay.

The constituent stations of the Circle are ( clockwise ): Central, Town Hall, Wynyard, Circular Quay, St James, Museum and back to Central.

For many years, 27 regular services operated from Circular Quay.

Weymouth Quay railway station is the other terminus in the town, though it currently receives no regular scheduled service.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution opened a lifeboat station at the Sand Quay in 1878, but it was closed in 1896.

Of the poetry written at this time, of note is " Fern Hill ", believed to have been started while living in New Quay, but completed at Blaen Cwm in the summer of 1945.

After a failed attempt to bomb Canary Wharf, a large IRA bomb exploded at South Quay on 9 February 1996.

The Great Eastern Hotel was closed in 1923 by the newly formed LNER, the hotel having suffered a decline resulting from the opening of the new passenger port up-river at Parkeston Quay where a new hotel with the same name had been opened by the Great Eastern Railway.

The telegraph offices were located at 64 Athol Street, Douglas ( also the company's head office ) and at East Quay, Ramsey ( now Marina House ).

A model of the ship The Black Prince is covered in flowers and is taken in procession from the Quay at Millbrook to the beach at Cawsand where it is cast adrift.

Dublin Corporation controversially built them on what had been one of the world's best preserved Viking sites, at Wood Quay.

In 1956 the dead ends at St. James and Wynyard were joined and Circular Quay was opened.

Cruise ships also dock at Heritage Quay.

The Museum of Contemporary Art ( MCA ) at West Circular Quay is Australia's foremost contemporary art museum, featuring a mixture of exhibitions from the museum's permanent collection and visiting shows by major international artists.

The Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery ( BRAG ) is a large multi-purpose visual arts facility located at the intersection of Barolin and Quay Streets in central Bundaberg.

Other settlements at the time in St. Lucie County's boundaries included Jensen, Eden, Anknona, Walton, Eldred, White City, Viking, St. Lucie, Oslo, Vero, Quay, Sebastian and others.

Its first accommodation was at Cobden House on Quay Street, Manchester, in a house which had been the residence of Richard Cobden.

The Bay is based at St. George's Quay in the city and broadcasts on three separate frequencies: 96. 9 FM ( Lancaster ), 102. 3 FM ( Windermere ) and 103. 2 FM ( Kendal ).

Some of the old industrial and wharfside heritage remains at the now defunct Surrey Commercial Docks now Surrey Quays, including Greenland Dock and Baltic Quay, where major residential schemes were developed in the 1980s and 1990s.

Importantly, in 1717 he built a quay and grain store at Quoile Quay, thereby, contributing to the economic expansion of the town.
