The Quetta Geological Museum, located on Sariab Road has a collection of rocks and fossils found in Balochistan.

Qalat, formerly Qilat, is located roughly in the center of Balochistan, Pakistan, south and slightly west of the provincial capital Quetta.

Mehrgarh is located near the Bolan Pass, to the west of the Indus River valley and between the now Pakistani cities of Quetta, Kalat and Sibi.

Fort Munro, locally called as Nimroo, is a hill station in Dera Ghazi Khan which lies on the Quetta Road at 80 km from Dera Ghazi Khan city in the Sulaiman Mountains Range.

More recently, a Roman-based orthography named Brolikva which is short form of Brahui Roman Likvar has been developed by the Brahui Language Board of the University of Balochistan in Quetta.

Quetta has a semi-arid climate ( Köppen BSk ) with a significant variation between summer and winter temperatures.

Pakistan International Airlines has regular flights between Quetta and the other major cities of Pakistan including Islamabad, Gwadar, Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar while Pakistan International Airlines operates direct flights to Manchester, Dubai, New York and other major international airports.

There has been a proposal to construct a railway track that will link Gawadar to China and Gawadar with Quetta via Kalat.

Quetta has a number of institutions of higher education.

In hockey, Quetta has produced Zeeshan Ashraf and Shakeel Abbasi, who are members of the Pakistan national hockey team.

Kandahar and Quetta are about 40 and respectively distant by air, and have the closest medium-sized airports ; Pishin, Pakistan has a small airport to the east.

Asif was born in Sheikhupura and has played first-class cricket for Khan Research Labs, the National Bank, Quetta, Sheikhupura, Sialkot and Leicestershire.

His father, Chaudhry Jan Muhammad, a police officer, migrated to a village in Faisalabad District and then went to Quetta, Balochistan during the Partition of British India in 1947. He has spent all his life in Quetta and moved to Islamabad, when he was elevated judge of Supreme Court of Pakistan in the year 2000. Chaudhry has three brothers who are settled abroad and he is second eldest child of his parents.
