There was no more playoff magic as the Rams finally defeated the Vikings, 34 – 10 in Los Angeles after having lost in their previous four playoff matchups ( in 1969, ' 74, ' 76 and ' 77 ).

In 1998, Warner was finally signed by an NFL franchise, the St. Louis Rams, and was allocated to NFL Europe's Amsterdam Admirals, where he would lead the league in touchdowns and passing yards.

On the Rams drive after the second punt, he broke a 25-yard run on third down and 1, caught a 10-yard pass, and then ran for 8 yards before finally scoring a 1-yard touchdown run to increase the Rams lead to 29-17 with 6: 55 left in the game.

The Rams had easily defeated an aging Vikings team in the regular season 35-3 in October on the nationally televised Monday Night Football, and after years of frustrating playoff losses in the cold of Green Bay and Minnesota, the Rams finally had a home playoff game against a cold weather team.

The Saints defeated the St. Louis Rams 31-28 in 2000 to notch their first-ever playoff win.

In his first year, he took the team to the 2001 playoffs but lost to the Minnesota Vikings a week after beating the St. Louis Rams for the team's first ever playoff win.

Dallas was also the defending Super Bowl XII champion, and finished the 1978 regular season with a 12-4 record, and posted playoff victories over the Atlanta Falcons and the Los Angeles Rams.

This was the Rams ' first playoff appearance in 10 years and only the second Super Bowl appearance in team history.

Playing in his first ever NFL playoff game, Warner threw for 395 yards and 5 touchdowns, with 1 interception, as the Rams defeated the Minnesota Vikings, 49 – 37, by scoring 35 unanswered points in the second half.

Expected to be a close shootout between Warner and Packers quarterback Brett Favre, the Rams defense dominated the Packers by intercepting a playoff record 6 passes from Favre and returning 3 of them for touchdowns.

The " Gridbirds " made only three playoff appearances during that stretch, losing at the Minnesota Vikings in 1974, Los Angeles Rams in 1975 and Green Bay Packers in 1982.

The Rams have been in the top in the 2-AA class but have not made a playoff run since 2000, when they made it to the championship game.

In the first play of the 1973 NFC Divisional playoff game, three weeks later on December 23, versus the Los Angeles Rams ( Cowboys 27-Rams 16 ) he re-injured this same hamstring.

The 1985 Bears went over 15 – 1 in regular season and shut out both the New York Giants and Los Angeles Rams in playoff games leading to the Super Bowl.

On December 7, 2008, Warner led the Cardinals to a 34 – 10 win over his former team, the Rams, securing for the Cardinals the NFC West Division title and their first playoff berth since 1998.
