Prominent left communist groups existing today include the International Communist Current and the International Bureau for the Revolutionary Party.

In post – Revolutionary Russia, Stalinism ( Socialism in one country ) and Trotskyism ( Permanent world revolution ) were the principal philosophies of Communism that claimed legitimate ideological descent from Leninism ' thus, within the Communist Party, each ideological faction denied the political legitimacy of the opposing faction.

In France, the Revolutionary Communist League ( LCR ) candidate in the 2007 presidential election, Olivier Besancenot, received 1, 498, 581 votes, 4. 08 %, double that of the Communist candidate.

The Shining Path's ideology and tactics have been influential on other Maoist insurgent groups, notably the Communist Party of Nepal ( Maoist ) and other Revolutionary Internationalist Movement-affiliated organizations.

For example, in the United States the New Communist Movement led to a plethora of formations, among them the Progressive Labour Party, the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA, the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, and the October League, amongst others.

Coming together as an amalgamation of the Dutch group Reflex, the Danish group Høst and the Belgian Revolutionary Surrealist Group, the group only lasted a few years but managed to achieve a number of objectives in that time: the periodical Cobra, a series of collaborations between various members called Peintures-Mot and two large-scale exhibitions.

On November 12, 2005, most of the provisional grouping ( independent members, and members of the Alliance for Workers ' Liberty, Alliance for Green Socialism, the Communist Party of Great Britain ( not to be confused with the former CPGB which dissolved in 1991 ), the Democratic Socialist Alliance, the Republican Communist Network ( Scotland ), the Revolutionary Democratic Group, the Socialist Unity Network, the United Socialist Party, and the Walsall Democratic Labour Party ) met again and claimed the name of the Socialist Alliance for a re-founded political organisation, registered with the Electoral Commission.

By the early 1990s, the group was working closely with the tiny Revolutionary Democratic Group and the Open Polemic discussion magazine.

The congress rejected a counter-resolution on the world situation from a tendency supported by members of the International Socialist Group and the Revolutionary Communist League: the tendency was supported by six of the 100 delegates to the congress.

The party originated as a tendency within the Revolutionary Communist Group, which had split from the International Socialists in the 1970s.

Disagreements about the course the Revolutionary Communist Group should take in relation to support for the Anti-Apartheid Movement led Frank Furedi, a sociologist at the University of Kent ( better known then by his cadre name Frank Richards ), to break off and form his own group: the Revolutionary Communist Tendency-which became the Revolutionary Communist Party ( RCP ).

Developing in the early 1970s, the RCG grew out of the " Revolutionary Opposition " faction of the International Socialists ( IS ), ( forerunners of the Socialist Workers Party ), being strongly influenced by the politics of Roy Tearse.

In January 1975 the RCG began publishing a theoretical journal called Revolutionary Communist in which it espoused an ultra-orthodox view of crisis theory, a theme they had already addressed in the IS when challenging the work of the theoreticians of that group.

Hungarian sociologist Frank Furedi was an early member of the RCG before being ejected in 1976, following which he founding the Revolutionary Communist Tendency.

In November 1976, Furedi and his followers were expelled from the RCG, following which they went on to form their own rival organisation, the Revolutionary Communist Tendency ( RCT ).

This was organized by the City of London Anti-Apartheid Group, within which the RCG played a leading role alongside elements of the Workers ' Revolutionary Party, the Humanist Party and members of the Kitson family.

Above and beyond this, an ‘ alphabet soup ’ of other lesser-known smaller Parties were associated with the LNM, namely the Revolutionary Communist Group – RCG, the Lebanese Revolutionnary Party – LRP, the Front of Patriotic Christians – PFC, the Democratic Lebanese Movement – DLM, the Movement of Arab Lebanon – MAL, the Arab Revolutionary Movement – ARM, the Partisans of the Revolution, the Vanguards of Popular Action – VPA, the Organization of Arab Youth – OAY, the Units of the Arab Call – UAC, the Movement of Arab Revolution – MAR, the Sixth of February Movement, the 24 October Movement – 24 OM, the Lebanese Movement in Support of Fatah – LMSF, the Assyrian Assault Battalion – AAB, the Knights of Ali, the Black Panthers, etc.
