At some point in the mid-1990s, the Godfrey brothers ( DJ Paul Godfrey and multi-instrumentalist Ross Godfrey ) recruited Skye Edwards as vocalist, during a chance meeting at a party in which both brothers were introduced to Edwards.

Ross was born in Broadford on Skye and traveled extensively throughout the Western Isles, becoming known for his knowledge of different varieties of Gaelic.

The ward management area is one of five comprising the Highland Council's Ross, Skye and Lochaber corporate management area, which is one of three Highland Council corporate management areas.

In 1983, the Ross, Cromarty and Skye constituency was created to represent the then Ross and Cromarty district and Skye and Lochalsh district.

The Ross and Cromarty lieutenancy area combines the areas of two former districts of the Highland region: Ross and Cromarty, and Skye and Lochalsh.

The area therefore includes the mainland part of the registration county and former administrative county of Ross and Cromarty, excluding Kincardine, with the addition of the Isle of Skye, which is in the registration county ( and former administrative county ) of Inverness-shire.

The Ross and Cromarty area was divided between the Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross area and the Ross, Skye and Lochaber area.

At the 1992 general election, Gray was the Conservative candidate for Charles Kennedy ’ s seat of Ross, Cromarty and Skye.

Gray unsuccessfully contested the Scottish Highlands seat of Ross, Cromarty and Skye at the 1992 general election and was defeated by 7, 630 votes by the sitting Liberal Democrat member Charles Kennedy.

Their territory included the Hebrides, ( Skye and Ross from 1438 ), Knoydart, Ardnamurchan, and the Kintyre peninsula.

The former districts were: Badenoch and Strathspey, Caithness, Inverness, Lochaber, Nairn, Ross and Cromarty, Skye and Lochalsh, and Sutherland

In 1262 the Earl of Ross sacked and pillaged Skye with the king's blessing.

At a rock shelter and shell midden at Sand, Applecross on Wester Ross facing Skye, excavations have shown that around 7500 BC people had tools of bone, stone and antler, were living off shellfish, fish and deer using pot-boiler stones as a cooking method, were making beads from seashells and had ochre pigment and used shellfish which can produce purple dye.

A small number of shell middens were known as rare traces of Mesolithic settlement when a rock shelter and shell midden at Sand, Applecross on the coast of Wester Ross, Scotland was selected for detailed excavation as part of a study of shell middens in the area around the Inner Sound between Skye and the mainland.

For elections to the Scottish Parliament, Dalneigh is divided between the constituencies of Ross, Skye and Inverness West and Inverness East, Nairn and Lochaber, and the area is part of the Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey constituency for elections to the UK Parliament.

The rest of the latter was divided between two new constituencies, Ross, Skye and Lochaber and Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey.

Since 2005 the other two have been Ross, Skye and Lochaber and Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey.

From 1997 to 2005 the other constituencies of the council area were Ross, Skye and Inverness West and Inverness East, Nairn and Lochaber.

Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross is the most northerly of the constituencies, and it now has the Ross, Skye and Lochaber constituency on its southern boundary.

Two areas, the Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross area and the Ross, Skye and Lochaber area, have the names of Westminster constituencies.

The constituency was created in 2005 by merging an area from Inverness East, Nairn and Lochaber with an area from Ross, Skye and Inverness West.

The rest of Inverness East, Nairn and Lochaber was merged with most of the rest of Ross, Skye and Inverness West to form Ross, Skye and Lochaber.

For representation in the Scottish Parliament ( Holyrood ) the area of the Westminster constituency is divided between Inverness East, Nairn and Lochaber ( the Holyrood constituency ) and Ross, Skye and Inverness West ( the Holyrood constituency ).

The Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey constituency is one of three Westminster constituencies covering the Highland council area, the other two being Ross, Skye and Lochaber and Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross.

Achduart ( Gaelic: Achadh Dhubhaird ) is a small hamlet in Coigach, in Wester Ross in northwestern Scotland, now within the Highland council area.

The new area was led by Allison Mankin and Scott Bradner, and had a directorate with 15 engineers from diverse backgrounds for direction-setting and preliminary document review: The working-group members were J. Allard ( Microsoft ), Steve Bellovin ( AT & T ), Jim Bound ( Digital Equipment Corporation ), Ross Callon ( Wellfleet ), Brian Carpenter ( CERN ), Dave Clark ( MIT ), John Curran ( NEARNET ), Steve Deering ( Xerox ), Dino Farinacci ( Cisco ), Paul Francis ( NTT ), Eric Fleischmann ( Boeing ), Mark Knopper ( Ameritech ), Greg Minshall ( Novell ), Rob Ullmann ( Lotus ), and Lixia Zhang ( Xerox ).

One researcher, Ross S. Stein, even suggested that the crest may have supported a membrane of skin connecting the backward-pointing crest to the neck and back, increasing its surface area and effectiveness as a rudder.

Another DEFRA report, in February 2008, confirmed the existence of these two sites as ' established breeding areas ' and identified a third in Gloucestershire / Herefordshire ; in the Forest of Dean / Ross on Wye area.

Ross was the first European-American to explore the Methow River area and likely the first to explore the Stehekin River and Bridge Creek region.

Ross County is the second largest county by total area in Ohio, after Ashtabula County.

Fur trappers were in the area as early as 1818, and Alexander Ross explored Squaw Creek in 1824.

Since that time a number of rangers have served the area well including Mr Peter Tomlin ( 1973-77 ), Mr Pearce Dougherty ( 1977-89 ), Ms Katherine Stephens, Mr Ross Allen, Mr Colin Waters, Mr Bryn Troath, Ms Caroline Paterson and more recently Mr Aaron Smith, also Justin Holmes.

The Bullhead City area is home to the region's only Outlet Mall, Target, Ross, Kohl's, Bed, Bath and Beyond, PetSmart, Wakimoto Farmer's Market, Lake Mohave Scuba, Jo-Ann Stores, Staples, and Sam's Club.

( As part of his arrangement to build and operate the sugar beet factory, William Clark and his brother H. Ross, who actually ran the Los Alamitos operation, also arranged to purchase significant area east of the factory as well as of land north of the sugar plant — most of the latter in the Rancho Los Cerritos boundaries — that would eventually become the city of Lakewood.

Other than " the base " the area remained unchanged until 1956 when builder Ross Cortese purchased land to build the walled community of Rossmoor just southwest from the townsite of Los Alamitos.

Rossville and Ross Township were named after Jacob Ross, a settler in the area.

The residents of this area, although living in unincorporated Ross Township, associated themselves with Merrillville.

In an early map from 1864, the area now known as New Ross was called " Mace ".

( Note Mace is an unincorporated area near New Ross.

Although the entire area surrounding the lake is developed, in the 2000 Census the CDP is limited to Ross Township.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of, of which is land and ( 10. 16 %) is water, mostly due to the location of the Ross Barnett Reservoir.

The town was laid out in April 1881 by surveying crews of the Texas Central Railway part of the historic Missouri-Kansas-Texas ( Katy Railroad ) as it constructed a line from Ross just north of the Waco area, to Stamford, with the ultimate goal of extending the line to Colorado.

Consequently, the Ross Sea has become a focus of numerous environmentalist groups who have campaigned to make the area a world marine reserve, citing the rare opportunity to protect the Ross Sea from a growing number of threats and destruction.
