University of California, San Francisco is unique in that it performs only biomedical and patient-centered research in its Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Dentistry, and the Graduate Division, and their hundreds of associated laboratories.

The third section, uniting the Town Common ( Uptown Greenville area ) with the East Carolina University Schools of Allied Health, Dentistry, Medicine and Nursing, plus the Vidant hospital complex is now in the paid for and planning stage.

Many university schools are also found in Recoleta: Derecho ( University of Buenos Aires School of Law ), Medicina ( University of Buenos Aires School of Medicine ), Odontología ( University of Buenos Aires School of Dentistry ), and the Farmacia y Bioquímica ( University of Buenos Aires Schools of Pharmacy and Biochemistry ).

Presently, the university essentially operates the Faculty System except for the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Basic Medical Sciences, and Institute of Child Health, which reverted back to the Collegiate System in August 1999, with a Provost as its administrative head.

TTUHSC, which is now part of the Texas Tech University System, includes Schools of Allied Health Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.

The university's presence at the general hospital dates to 1971, when Southampton ( along with Nottingham and Leicester universities ) became the first new Schools of Medicine to be founded in the United Kingdom in the twentieth century.

On 20 April 1912, the school was renamed as the İstanbul Darülfünûnu (' Istanbul House of Multiple Sciences ') while the number of courses were increased and the curricula were modernized with the establishment of the Schools of Medicine, Law, Applied Sciences ( Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics ), Literature and Theology.
