Amongst the most highly regarded Mughal architecture dating from Jahangir's reign is the famous Shalimar Gardens in Kashmir.

Among his surviving buildings are the Red Fort and Jama Masjid in Delhi, the Shalimar Gardens of Lahore, sections of the Lahore Fort ( such as Sheesh Mahal, and Naulakha pavilion ), and his Tomb of Jahangir.

The Shalimar Gardens ( Lahore ) | Shalimar Gardens, comprising over four-hundred fountains, were built by the Mughal emperor.

Among his other constructions are the Red Fort also called the Delhi Fort or Lal Qila in Urdu, large sections of Agra Fort, the Jama Masjid, the Wazir Khan Mosque, the Moti Masjid, the Shalimar Gardens, sections of the Lahore Fort, the Jahangir mausoleum — his father's tomb, the construction of which was overseen by his stepmother Nur Jahan and the Shahjahan Mosque.

A famous example of the charbagh style of Mughal garden is the Shalimar Gardens in Lahore, where the domeless Tomb of Jahangir is also located.

Bahadur Shah died on 27 February 1712 in Lahore while making alterations to the Shalimar Gardens.

In 1981, the fort was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the Shalimar Gardens ( Lahore ).

The Mughals controlled the region from 1524 until 1739 and would also lavish the province with building projects such as the Shalimar Gardens and the Badshahi Mosque, both situated in Lahore.

The Shalimar Gardens ( Punjabi, ), sometimes written Shalamar Gardens, is a Pakistani garden and it was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in Lahore, modern day Pakistan.

There are five geographical sources of inspiration for Shalimar Gardens: Central Asia, Kashmir, West Punjab, Persia, and the Delhi Sultanate.

The Shalimar Gardens in Lahore

The site of the Shalimar Gardens originally belonged to one of the noble Zaildar families in the region, well known as Mian Family Baghbanpura.

In return, Shah Jahan granted the Mian family governance of the Shalimar Gardens.

The Shalimar Gardens remained under the custodianship of this family for more than 350 years.

In 1962, the Shalimar Gardens were nationalised by General Ayub Khan because leading Mian family members had opposed his imposition of martial law in Pakistan.

Shalimar has one commercial artery, Eglin Parkway, and most business enterprises are located within a block of State Road 85.

Okaloosa County government and Sheriff's offices are located in Shalimar.

Meigs Middle School, Shalimar Elementary School and Longwood Elementary School are currently ( 2009 ) A Schools according to the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test.

The Shalimar Gardens are laid out in the form of an oblong parallelogram, surrounded by a high brick wall, which is famous for its intricate fretwork.

Some examples of Mughal gardens are Shalimar Gardens ( Lahore ), Lalbagh Fort at Dhaka, and Shalimar Bagh ( Srinagar ).

The Taj Mahal ( 1630 – 1648 ) in Agra, India and the Shalimar Garden ( 1641 – 1642 ) in Lahore, Pakistan, are two sites which are on the world heritage list of UNESCO.

The famous gardens are the Char Bagh gardens at Taj Mahal, Shalimar Gardens of Lahore, Delhi and Kashmir as well as Pinjore Garden in Haryana.

Some classic perfumes incorporating castor are Emeraude, Chanel Antaeus, Cuir de Russie, Magie Noire, Lancôme Caractère, Hechter Madame, Givenchy III, Shalimar, and many " leather " themed compositions.

At present, the Dal Lake and its Mughal gardens, Shalimar Bagh and the Nishat Bagh on its periphery are undergoing intensive restoration measures to fully address the serious eutrophication problems experienced by the lake.

Aside from the Shalimar Bagh and Nishat Bagh, some of the other places frequented by tourists are the Shankaracharya temple, the Hari Parbat, the Nagin Lake, the Chashme Shahi, the Hazratbal Shrine, the famous Kashmir houseboat and the shikara ( boat ) called the Gandola of Kashmir.

Among Jacques Guerlain's most important creations are Mouchoir de Monsieur ( 1904 ), Après L ' Ondée ( 1906 ), L ' Heure Bleue ( 1912 ), Mitsouko ( 1919 ), Vol de Nuit ( 1933 ), and Guerlain's flagship fragrance Shalimar ( 1925 ).

There are many hotels in the city like the Shalimar Hotel, Pakeza Hotel, Ajwa Hotel, Indus Hotel, D. G.

' On Garnier's Bayou near the present Eglin ( Air Force Base ) housing development of Shalimar, a $ 29, 000, 000 Port Dixie Harbor and Terminal Company was chartered to build wharves for liners, a rail line north, and a city of one square mile, with streets 100 feet wide.

Several floods were flooded along the coast at Shalimar near Ft. Walton Beach.

In 1981, Shalimar Gardens was included as a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the Lahore Fort, under the UNESCO Convention concerning the protection of the world's cultural and natural heritage sites in 1972.

Scenic views of the lake can be witnessed from the shore line Mughal gardens, such as Shalimar Bagh and Nishat Bagh built during the reign of Mughal Emperor Jahangir ) and from houseboats cruising along the lake in the colourful shikaras.

This beautiful building with mud plastering was known to be part of Anarkali which was initially built along with Baradari as an imitation of Shalimar Garden of Lahore.

Shalimar port was in function during the Mughal Empire, which was connected to the rest of the country with Grand Trunk Road.

The Louis Woodham Concrete Company, which would provide construction materials for the growing Shalimar area, was established at Dixie Point at the end of Ferry Road by 1956, and would survive into the late 1970s before being replaced by condominiums.
