The University of Wisconsin – Stout ( UW – Stout or Stout ) is a member campus of the University of Wisconsin System.
On March 9, 2007, Stout was officially designated " Wisconsin's Polytechnic University " by the Board of Regents.
The school became Stout State College in 1955 after it was merged into the Wisconsin State Colleges system ( it had operated with a separate board until then ) and Stout State University in 1964.
In 1971, after the merger of the former University of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin State Universities, the school became part of the University of Wisconsin System and has been named University of Wisconsin – Stout since then.
